Aspercreme Heat Pain Relieving Gel Product Review

I have always seen the advertisement on television for Aspercreme Heat and thought that this would be a great pain reliever so when my husband came home one evening after a long day at work with his lower back hurting from stooping over a car and working on the cars all day long I drove over to our local Walgreens and purchased a tube of Aspercreme Heat just to see if it would give him any relief from his pain. I was so wrong!

I applied some of the product to his lower back after he took a shower and within a couple of minutes he said that he could feel the heat beginning to build up a little and I asked him if it felt okay and he said so far and just a few seconds later, my husband said that he needed to wash this stuff off immediately because the heat from this product was getting so intense that it felt as though his skin was blistering up. He jumped in the shower and washed the Aspercream gel off and we tossed the tube of Aspercream Gel in to the trash can.

The label on the tube states that this product has a light, clean scent and contains 10% menthol and temporarily relieves minor pain associated with arthritis, simple backache, muscle strains, sprains, bruises and cramps. The following warnings are also listed on the tube of Aspercream Heat:

For external use only. While using this product use only as directed; do not bandage tightly or use with a heating pad; avoid contact with eyes or mucous membranes; do not apply to wounds or broken, damaged or irritated skin; a transient burning sensation may occur upon application but generally disappears in several days; if severe burning sensation occurs, discontinue use immediately; do not expose the area treated with product to heat or direct sunlight.

Keep out of reach of children. If swallowed, get medical help or contact Poison Control right away. If pregnant or breast feeding, contact a health professional first before use. For use in adults and children over 18 years of age and for children under the age of 18 years old, consult a doctor first before use. If medicine comes in contact with hands, wash with soap and water.

The tube of Aspercreme Heat comes with a twist off red cap and there is a sponge applicator to rub the product on to your skin with. The gel is almost a translucent pearly white color. The product did dry fast on the skin and absorbed well but the scent is not great at all. It has a musty menthol odor to it that is somewhat nauseating and just really gross. I do not recommend that anyone tries Aspercreme Heat Pain Relieving Gel because of the fact that after a few minutes of applying this pain relieving gel to your skin, you will start feeling as if you are literally on fire and you will think that your skin is blistering up from the intense heat.
