Handheld gaming is a different beast business-wise compared to the home console segment. Nintendo pretty much rule that particular market since day one with the Game Boy and Game Boy Advance starting from 1989. While Nintendo had many competitors throughout the years, all of the rival video game systems quickly fizzle out against their popular brand. Sony, who already beat Nintendo in the home console market, was the strongest competition for them yet.
Despite launching with a head of steam, however, the PSP struggled throughout its early years. While the systems eventually evened out to sell at a brisk pace, it lags far behind the Nintendo DS. Still, Sony managed to take a huge chunk of the market away from Nintendo with more than 50 million units sold for the PSP so far.
To keep up interests for the PSP, Sony constantly redesigned their handheld video game system. Come this fall, they will be selling two designs concurrently: the PSP-3000 and PDP Go.
The latest bundle features the older model, the PSP-3000. In addition to the slick-looking white-colored system, the Limited Edition Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines PSP Entertainment Pack also includes a 2GB Memory Stick PRO Duo for storage of content such as save files, music, video and Playstation Network games. Furthermore, the pack will also come with a untitled UMD movie that hasn't been announced yet.
Of course, the main component to the Limited Edition Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines PSP Entertainment Pack is the game itself. Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines is an exclusive PSP game that fills in the gap to the story of Assassin's Creed and the upcoming Assassin's Creed II. You can connect between Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines and the Playstation 3 version of Assassin's Creed II in order to share content.
The Limited Edition Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines PSP Entertainment Pack will only set you back $199.99. This is quite a bargain considering that a bare bones PSP-3000 unit currently costs for $169.99. Not to mention that the upcoming PSP Go will be retailing for $249.99.
The Limited Edition Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines PSP Entertainment Pack is set for a November release, probably at the same date the standalone PSP title will be released. Just like the name suggest, quantities are going to be limited.
