Music
First starting at AC the bands that were heard consistently were Keane, Queens of the Stone Age and Interpol. A little later Lucero came to be the unofficial favorite band of the office. Just about the entire office would make it a point to make it to their shows. Another band whose concerts were regularly attended was Lazyface. This had a lot to do with the fact that our own AC Sam was their lead singer. All in all the indy rock/alternative scene dominates musical tastes. This is probably why our CEO AC Luke and other staff members make a yearly pilgrimage to the South by Southwest music festival.
Movie/TV/Video
Our early favorite movie was Napoleon Dynamite. It was just filled with some very memorable characters. Some of the more quoted movies in the office that you will hear are Pulp Fiction and Fight Club.
TV shows that are generally agreed upon are The Office, Entourage, Flight of the Conchords and Lost. Of course the best show ever is Battlestar Gallactica but some of our staffers need some more time to come around to that. We all thoroughly enjoy SNL skits like Will Farrell's cowbell and Tina Fey's Sarah Palin.
We are always on the lookout for funny video on the web, one of our favorites is the Terry Tate series. If you haven't seen this office linebacker before I suggest you search for him on YouTube.
Games - There are probably only a handful of video game players in the office but we are formidable. You will also find a lot of us in one fantasy league or another. Our fantasy football league is going on 3 years now.
On the more live action side just about all play ping pong religiously and would take on any other office out there. Our tournaments are day long events that almost everyone participates in. Of course beer pong gets in the mix when you have a ping pong table and a thirsty workforce after a long day of work.
Politics
Yes please.
Tech
I will say very little about our what can make you fit in with our engineers but I think it is enough to convey the gist. Open source, LAMP.
Food
Being located in the Cherry Creek area of Denver we are pretty central to some of Denvers finest eateries. But we are more partial to what is good and quick. Panera is a local staple as is El Coyotito and Chipotle. When we have time to venture out you will find AC staff at places like the Milwaukee Street Tavern, The Cherry Cricket and Tacos de Mexico. Longer lunch trips are to Tom's, Mexico City and Carbones deli. When in Boulder we always stop at Salvagio's.
We are also very lucky to have the best baker in Denver provide us with delicious cakes every now and then.
Art
You wont hear too much about the art scene in the office but you will see the work of Shepard Fairy around the office. His influence is also seen in our stickers.
Sports
With offices in Denver and New York you may think that team loyalty would be to the clubs of those cities but we are very diverse and root for teams from the Miami Dolphins to the Boston Red Sox. However I will say that most staffers are partial to the Denver Broncos and Denver Nuggets with most of us attending a Nuggets games then any other team games.
It should also be mentioned that it is not uncommon for staffers to take a lunch break at the gym to either swim or step it up in an aerobics class.
So that is AC Culture in a nutshell. We are a great working environment with smart and interesting people ready to enjoy more of what life has to offer.
