Associated Content and EHow Sites for New Writers and Why I Love Them

Laurie Tam
Some of you may think that I am crazy to mention AC and Ehow since most of us don't earn a great living writing for AC and Ehow. It is true that I am very far from earning a livable income but it's great to get some extra money writing but for this article, it's for new writers. I recommend these two sites to start because they are easy to get into and here at AC, you earn upfront payment plus residual of every thousand page views makes you in between $1.50-$2.00. It may not be much but if you also combine it with Ehow, the full force together on residual income will be even greater.

I will tell you my story on how I got into freelance writing. I started with Ehow on July 2008 but really I started writing two articles at Hubpages back in March 2008. I no longer write nor became active there since AC and Ehow are better for income. After AC, I decided to check out Associated Content and signed up on September 2008 and since July 2009, I became more active on contributing articles written by me.

If you wanted to start writing on here, I think that would be a wise choice. I wish someone had told me that before I got started writing articles at Ehow where at the site everyone there only earn residual. At that site each month, I usually earn in between $30-$50 a month and last month made a little over $38. I know it may not be much, but it's free money due to the Google Adsense that people click on for me to get some of the money.

As for AC, go to www.associatedcontent.com and click on sign up to become a paid writer. Most writers earn between $1-$6 from each AC articles. It may not be much but if you add them all up, it would be worth it especially if you do them everyday of contributing up to 10 articles a day. After signing up, I suggest you do their W-9 form because they won't give you your payment if you ever made at least $600 or more each year and then you can start writing for them. They only pay you by Paypal which is great for everyone since it's easy.

After writing an article or two at AC, go to Ehow site at www.ehow.com and click on sign up to be a paid writer. Fill in all of the information such as your real name, home address, email address which they only pay you by Paypal and any other information. If you didn't sign up with paypal, here is what I suggest on which to sign up where you have to choose between personal, premier and business. I suggest premier since this is a business transaction with AC to write for them. Back at ehow, you literally have to click on the Writer's Compensation Program in order to make money. I signed up there on July 26, 2008 and finally did the WCP on August 8, 2008 but in your case, you should do it on the same day you signed up so then you wouldn't miss out like I did on the first month writing there.

After you are done with it, go ahead and write at least one or two articles on there which should be different than the other articles that you wrote on AC. In order to earn good money for upfront as well as residual, you need to know basic SEO which are keywords that are searched most often on a daily basis such as on Google and Yahoo. I prefer Google myself.

My advice to you on this article should help you jumpstart your freelance writing career and have some goals on what you want to write about as well as how many you can do each week or day. Keep learning and network to get some more ideas and tips.

    Hi, Hally Z.
Can you give more information on how I can earn money through the Examiner? I would love to see the money start rolling in too but I'm still very new to making money online, so any information that you can give to help me get started would be very helpful. Please feel free to email me the information at ladysinger@comcast.net

I love residual income. I used to write more for the up-front paying sites, but then got tired of spending my entire evening writing articles for maybe $3-$8. Now, like with Examiner, I just watch the money roll in. I love the knowledge that, even if I'm out having fun, I'm still earning money.
