Associated Content: My Golden Ticket

Yvonne Rodenhiser
Writing for Associated Content has been a dream come true! As a single mother and full time college student working forty hours a week at a job that barely paid enough to get gas in the car and cover daycare fees, I had no time, no sleep, and no money! I had diapers to buy and bills to pay.

I started searching for opportunities to work from home online. I was overwhelmed with links to dozens of get rich quick programs with promises of making millions of dollars a year from a few hours a day on my trusty little eMachine PC. I have learned the hard way that if something sounds too good to be true then it usually is, but surely I could sue the pants off of these legitimate looking business companies, right?

After dedicating a good half hour of my precious time to read about a data entry position I was considering to try, I was floored to see that you had to pay $49 to work for them! What kind of baloney is that? In any job I have had in the past, not once did the receptionist require my credit card before I could start working.

I ended up losing my job and went through a bit of a nervous breakdown that day. My job had required that I work each weekend and I didn't always have somebody to watch my daughter because weekend daycare services just don't exist in my area. My supervisor was impressed with my work performance but the company policy was very strict when it came to attendance, which is completely understandable. I just didn't have anyone to watch my little girl.

I put out some resumes and hoped for the best. All the jobs that called me in for an interview required weekend work which would result in my being fired again. Don't you just love vicious cycles? I didn't give up hope and continued with my online career opportunity search. That's when I found my new home here at AC in a work at home forum.

I was skeptical when I clicked the link to the AC site because of all the scams that I had researched in the past month. After reading about what the company was all about I figured that there was a catch somewhere, but I created a profile since it was free and turned in a couple of research papers just to see if AC was legitimate.

AC emailed me with an offer the next day! I couldn't believe it. I accepted the offers and logged into my PayPal account the next day to see if this was just a dream. To my delight I had $8 in my account. Not much, but I had earned it through a legitimate online opportunity and I felt like the richest woman in the world at that moment! Move over Donald Trump!

Now I do this full time and set my own schedule. My daughter stays at home with me and I actually look forward to getting up in the morning and starting to work. No more alarm clocks to fight with, no diaper bags to pack, no long morning commutes, and no angry bosses hanging over my shoulder!
Here's to AC publishers everywhere who work in their bathrobes!
