Associated Content: A Great Opportunity for Beginning Writers

Associated Content is also an excellent place for beginning writers to get published, and actually get paid to write. Here are the ins and outs of writing for Associated Content.

1. Your lack of experience as a writer doesn't matter with Associated Content. A query letter is not required, nor is an impressive bio. If you have the ability to write well, you'll likely find it easy to break into Associated Content.

2. Payment is between $3 - 20 per article. That's not much, but especially if you are a newer and previously unpaid writer, even a small amount of pay can give you a sense of accomplishment, and can help you start making money as a writer. Additionally, Associated Content pays bonuses based on the number of times your articles are viewed, which enables you to continue to earn money after your work is published. If you're good at promoting your articles, the bonus based on page views can be substantial.

3. You can write on just about any topic you know. The great thing about being able to write on most any topic, is that your everyday experiences can be turned into articles and bring in some money. For instance, if you go out to dinner, write a restaurant review and submit it. If you purchase a product you especially like or dislike, write a product review. If you have a hobby, write articles relating to that hobby, and so on. Since experiences from your every day life provide plenty of fodder for articles, you'll likely never run out of ideas to write about for Associated Content.

4. You can write an unlimited number of articles. There are people who make a full time living on Associated Content by writing numerous articles each day. I prefer not to put all of my writing energy into one website or magazine, but you certainly can do that with Associated Content if you'd like. The opportunity to write an unlimited number of articles provides the opportunity to make a decent amount writing, since you can make up for the lower pay with the high volume of accepted articles. I've found Associated Content to be a great way to ensure that I make at least some money every day.

5. You have the option to sell either exclusive or nonexclusive rights. Associated Content may pay more for exclusive rights, but the articles I've sold as nonexclusive have often brought in as much as my articles written exclusively for Associated Content. Since you can sell Associated Content nonexclusive rights, it is a great place to submit articles you've had published elsewhere, or that you think you might want to sell somewhere else sometime in the future.

6. There is a strong sense of community on Associated Content. If you want to get to know other writers, Associated Content is a great place to do that while you're making some cash. In addition to forums, you can comment on people's articles, send and receive private messages, select certain writers as "favorites," and so on. As is generally the case with any community, you get out of it what you put in to it. For instance, if you spend a lot of time commenting on articles, you will likely have more comments on your articles. However, your level of involvement in the Associated Content is totally up to you.

Associated Content may not be the highest paying market around, but it certainly is a great place to get your work out there, hone your skills, and make money at the same time.
