Associated Content Helped Me Land My First National Magazine Article
The Power of Associated Content Works
I joined Associated Content in November of 2006. After hearing some good things, I was curious, although honestly I was somewhat skeptical about a legitimate People's Media Company. Well, I'm a believer now.
Web reviews on AC I found ranged from glowing to dismissive. But, can you really trust the "competition?" Upon visiting AC, I was something of a focused lurker initially. I browsed categories, skimmed headlines, and then looked more closely.
AC's professionally organized set-up along with solid, original content had convinced me this was not some fly by night outfit. However, submitting articles or videos, which AC would pay for and promptly publish within several business days? This still seemed too good to be true.
Yes, content, film reviews and numerous blogs are a web staple for years now. But a site that would allow anyone with the right combination of original content and discipline to craft a well written article or short film and then pay for it? Again, it seemed unlikely.
In less than a week, I sold an article. More followed. Many more followed. I was hooked. Here at AC the often evasive dream of most writers was being realized each day: Our work was being published, paid for and prominently displayed and promoted on a great looking website with a devoted following. Literary manna from heaven for writers was found here to be sure.
Yet, AC isn't just writers. There are filmmakers - I've submitted a few films myself - along with musicians, poets and more. It's this variety, cutting across artistic lines, which excites so many of us. Our content producer pages are full to the brim with anything a visitor hungry for information could want. And those content producers are great for something else - promoting our work and us.
That's how I sold my article to Quilter's Home. Their editors were impressed by several of my AC articles, which led to my first magazine assignment. Another article sale followed that one. Now I'm contemplating avenues of writing I'd not considered before Associated Content.
I've written for newspapers, television and the web. As an AC contributor, my work has seen more exposure, and faster than many of my previous endeavors. No matter where I go from here, AC seems likely to remain one of the truly open, prompt and fun ways of publishing my work.
Thanks, Associated Content!

Answering Richelle's Comment: The magazine with my article is QUILTER'S HOME - May/June 2007 Issue - available at most Barnes & Nobles and other large outlets - there's no online version of it - yet - however there's a Quilter's Home website with some stuff.
