Associated Content Holds Inaugural Town Hall Meeting

Organizers Expect Heavy Turnout for Next Meeting

Associated Content (AC) held its inaugural Town Hall Meeting last night, and Luke Beatty, President and CEO of the rapidly growing multimedia company, was the featured speaker for the historical event. I consider this an historic event, because years from now, AC will be one of the premiere multimedia content marketplaces and archives that one will find online. The 50-plus Content Producers in attendance last night will be able to look back on the event and reflect on their participation in the creation of a tradition.

Associated Content is Unique Community

Although there are many sites on the web that allow average individuals to have works that reflect their ideas, expertise, and observations published, AC also provides an environment that is a unique community of Content Producers and Content Managers. And, AC is a community of convenience and diversity that pays!

Unrivaled Variety

When it comes to variety in publishing options, AC offers the most that I have encountered. You can have your work published immediately if you choose not to submit for payment. You can submit your work exclusively to AC or you can submit non-exclusively. Your work can be presented in text or audiovisual media, and can pertain to local, national, or international contexts.

Unusual Access

I'm not sure how many large multimedia companies (which AC is on its way to becoming) offers the opportunity to interact with its CEO as AC did last night at the Town Hall Meeting Webinar, but it was a welcomed opportunity for me. As a relatively new Content Producer, it was refreshing and informative for me to hear Associated Content's President expand on the vision and direction of the company, as well as the roles he envisions Content Producers playing in the company's development.

Essential Topics Covered

In addition to sharing his vision of AC, Beatty answered questions that pertained to the everyday functioning of the community. Topics included the major concern of most Content Producers: money. Beatty talked about how Content Producers would be paid and how that system is likely to evolve over time. On a closely related topic, page views, Beatty projected that the page view system would be updated within three months to a system that allowed for daily updates, and hinted that hourly updates would also be a reality in the not too distant future.

Content That Pays

Content Producers who attended the inaugural Town Hall Meeting also had questions about the nature of content that would enhance their income opportunities. Beatty responded that the value content varied according to the marketplace, but acknowledged that exclusive content with unique features that appealed to wide audiences was likely to draw the highest offers. He also explained that multiple factors, such as shelf-life and currency, influenced offers for content.

Town Hall Participation Worth It

Overall, attending the first Associated Content Town Hall Meeting was a positive experience, because it contributed to my feeling more a part of AC, and allowed me to embrace the company's vision. If you missed the meeting, a transcript should be available by Saturday, May 5. I intend to participate in the next Associated Content Town Hall meeting on May 8th which will feature experienced Content Producers sharing their expertise on performance bonus enhancement.

I anticipate being a part of the AC community for the duration, because although I also write for print publications and publish on other online sites, AC has rapidly become my favorite venue for publishing despite the less-than-ideal compensation. AC's flexibility, responsiveness to Content Producers, variety of content categories, as well as leadership's innovative vision are likely to lead to a long and rich history that can only be enhanced by its Town Hall Meetings. Kudos to Mike Street and all staff members who cooperated to make the meeting happen.
