Associated Content, the leading online platform for people who want to create content, named the winners of its 2007 People's Media Awards, distributing cash prizes and recognition to some of Associated Content's highest-performing Content Producers.

Associated Content awarded a total of $10,000 in prize money across a variety of categories, including content quality and page-view performance. All Content Producers who published articles, video or audio content through Associated Content during 2007 were eligible to win.

"The People's Media Awards represent Associated Content's core commitment to encouraging and rewarding the participation of each Content Producer within this Content Economy," Geoff Reiss, CEO of Associated Content, said. "These award-winning Content Producers exemplify the connection between producers and consumers happening nearly a million times every day at Associated Content."

Associated Content has more than 100,000 registered Content Producers from across the U.S. and around the world and is open to anyone with an interest in creating and publishing content on any topic. Submissions are evaluated by Associated Content for financial compensation, ranging from up-front offers to page-view bonuses, along with highly discoverable distribution.

2007 People's Media Award winners reflected the breadth of voices among Associated Content's Content Producers, ranging from Rosa Hayes' powerful "Oklahoma City Mother Recounts the Death of Her Son" to Aaron Jaffe's hilarious video, "Diamonds Are Not a Girl's Best Friend." Successful and popular Content Producer Pam Gaulin won "2007 Content Producer of the Year."

Content Producers whose submissions finished in 2007 within the Top 1,000 "Top-Performing" pieces of content will be recognized on their Content Producer profile pages in the form of special "PMA" marks. Associated Content staff selected the "Best Of" award winners, with input from the Content Producer community. "Top-Performing" award-winners were derived from content-audience data.

"Rewarding Content Producers based on both their quantitative performance and editorial quality captures the essence of what AC is all about," Lisa Harman Gooder, VP of Community Development said. "Whether you publish on Associated Content, on your own blog or on your Facebook page, everyone wants to have an audience - and quality completes the producer's connection with the consumer."

"That's what Associated Content is honoring."

""Top-Performing" award-winners were derived from content-audience data." Could you clarify this criteria, since it doesn't seem to match up with who received the top 1000 badge?
