Assorted Valentine's Day Poems

HA! HA! YOU MISSED!

I heard it whiz past, once more missing its mark

Cupid's red arrow, aimed right at my heart

I ducked in time and it once again missed

I smiled quite smugly as I escaped its kiss

You might look at me and think what a shame

A fool who refuses to take part in the game

But I pity you greatly for your love run amok

So if you forgive me, I must once again duck!

VALENTINE'S DAY LAMENT

I don't need a day to love you

My love for you cannot be contained in 24 hours

It cannot be expressed in cards, verses or flowers

I don't need a day to love you

I love you whether the sun shines or there is rain

Whether the floods rise around me, it is the same

I don't need a day to love you

But waking I realize that Valentine Day has come

And I have nothing for you - excuse me, I must run!

ALL IN A DAY

I run to the store and find a card, I make sure the verse is right

I buy the flowers, I buy the wine, I bundle it up tight

I go to your house, I knock on the door, how could you resist

You shout for joy, you invite me in, you offer me a kiss.

You read the card, I've got it wrong, the verse just makes you mad

The flowers now are wilting fast, and you claim the wine is bad

My breath you said is reeking, and you will not allow me to stay

I loved a girl, I lost a girl - all in one Valentine's Day.
