Everybody knows those old wives tales about asthma and how to treat it at home, or grandmas 'special medicine' that tastes gross. I have severe asthma and I have had it all my life, and none of these treatments have ever helped me. Coffee is supposed to jolt the lungs because of the caffeine and get your blood pumping again to help you breathe. Hot steamy showers are another remedy that has only made asthma worse in my case. Lemon juice every night is supposed to work, there are tons and tons of advice people can give you, but everybody is different and not all of them might work.
People say you should always relax, but how can you relax when you feel like your lungs are imploding!? It's nearly impossible to relax and calm yourself so you can breathe again when you're worrying about an asthma attack, or what would happen if you couldn't breathe at all. What helps for me is to get a nice massage and drink really hot tea, green tea preferably, but any would work. The warmness of the tea relaxes your muscles in your throat, and the back rub loosens the muscles around your lungs so they won't feel so constricted. Maybe you have a boyfriend that will give you a back rub, or a fiancé or a husband.
If all else fails, sex or masturbation would have to be the next best thing, or maybe your first option. I know that sounds crazy right? Sex gets your heart racing, reaching that orgasm really gets the blood flowing and better circulation of oxygen in the blood, and after your done you sit there and you feel like you could breathe in every bit of air in the world all at once. It's exhilarating. It doesn't sound like the best thing to be doing while your asthma is acting up, I know. It does help more than you would imagine. If the back rub and the tea don't help out the situation, sex would be the next best thing. If you've found a remedy that works for you, congratulations on finding something that works, I wish everybody could find a treatment for asthma, or hopefully even a cure for it.
