Aston martin was founded by Lionel Martin and Richard Bamford in 1913 in Newport Pagnell. This company manufactures sport cars and produces one car during the working cycle, taking into consideration that assembling is manual.

With appearance of DB9 in Aston Martins history there appears new chapter. As DB9 is not only the most perfect model in the company model row, it is a forefather for the whole series of different calibers British super cars.

The work on DB9 creation began in the middle of the year 2000, just in month and a half after Ulrich Betz took the position of Aston Martin head. Earlier he worked as an investigation department head in Porsche AG. First thing that Betz did was giving instructions to stop producing middle sized engine which was very popular and switch themselves to super car creation in classical Aston Martin style. "Ferrari can build middle sized engine cars as it has been engaging with it for 40 years; Aston Martin was always building cars with classical bundling and I am not going to break these canons that have been settled for year.

Design:

DB9 has all the traits of Aston Martin traditional style. This is a very elegant and proportional in all the details and trifles sport car. It was developed by Henric Fisker, Aston Martin chief designer, who was trying to preserve in this new model the features of the previous generations. DB9 has elegant side view with smooth body lines. The trunk volume makes up 197 litre (it was 170 litre in DB7) and together with this the car has back seats. Due to the original door construction Aston Martin becomes recognizable even for a non car fan: while opening they rise up to 12 degrees. This solution may become new generic trait of Aston Martin. Nevertheless, it is known that the same mechanism of door opening must appear on other models built on VH platform. The interior of the model is a unique combination of traditionalism and modern. Here is no a single shining surface - only mat aluminum and ripped with special oil (for better structure appearance) wood. Aluminum torpedo has company emblem engraving, has a couple of mesomorphic displays which reflect the service information of board computer.

Engine:

The car is equipped with 6 litre 48 valves, 12 cylindrical low toxic Aston Martin engine. This huge V type power unit is made from aluminum alloy. Aston Martin is able to accelerate up to 100 km per hour taking less than 5 seconds, and its top speed is 300 km per hour. It is supplied either with 6 staged mechanical or automatic transmission. The engine is gasoline, it has electrical gasoline injection. Power unit DB9 is the third V12 Ford generation. Having installed distributing and crankshafts finished the discharge systems, lubricant and injection managing, the constructors managed to increase the engine power from 420 to 450 horse power. Due to this the engine became very flexible: 70% of maximum spinning moment develops during the 1500 min -1. New Aston Martin chanced to be more dynamic than DB7: up to 100 km/h DB9 with mechanical transmission accelerates taking 4.7 seconds, and with automatic transmission to two tenth longer. In both cases the time makes up 0.3 sec.

Breaks:

Aston Martin has disk ventilated front and back wheels. Driving gear is placed on the back wheels and this is also Aston martin's tradition.

Other features:

To understand how greatly Aston Martin DB9 differs from all the rest row of models Aston martin it is enough just to look at the slit of the central tunnel: here is the link between back axle and engine - carboxylic universal joint axle, which weights less than the steel one and possesses less moment of inertia. The designers were actively struggling with car's overweighting: not talking into consideration the frame, the roof and back fencers are made of aluminum. All this allowed winning in weight comparing to Aston Martin DB7, it doubled the body harshness and make the richer interior. The company plans annual production of DB9 making up 2000 cars (during the ten years of DB7 production there was gathered 5000 samples. The novelty will be produced at the new factory in Hayden, supplied with the most modern equipment.
