Astrology - Moon Phases and Moonsigns

What Makes the Moon Go Round

carol gibson
In days of old there were many who followed the mystical effects of the moon as it occupies the signs of the horoscope. Theoretically, each astrological sign has a different quality that holds an important meaning. In regard to many purposes and actions, the phases of the moon are equally significant.

The moon being the closest planetary body to the earth has an important astrological bearing on the ocean tides, as well as plant life. Human behavior is subject to the moon phases and moon signs. Ask any policeman about working on a full moon night.

New moon is a good time to plan a project because this is a period of insemination. As a seed planted in the ground unfurls its embryonic growth, so does the beginning of an activity. Taking action on the plan at this time may run into a sort of inertia due to wrong timing.

Second quarter shows a half moon symbol representing the time to take physical action on the plan. Second quarter energizes the plan from first quarter, bringing it nearer to fruition.

Full moon should see complete fruition.
Last quarter can provide a feeling of satisfaction and a pleasant sort of fatigue. Or, if the project went unfinished, the fatigue can be accompanied by restlessness. This is the time to add finishing touches.

Characterization of astrological qualities

Aries - ram - fire sign - action

Cancer - crab - water sign - home and family

Leo - lion - sun sign - play and create

Virgo - virgin - cleanliness and purity

Each month the astrological combinations of the moon phases and signs change. These are basic qualities that put an essence into each and every day. At the very least, astrology guidelines can be an arbitrary consideration for creating an agenda or schedule.

A few examples. . .

When the full moon is in the sign of Aries, the planet of action also known as the warring planet, may produce quarrels and angry interaction such as road rage. Or when the moon is new this idealistic sign, it gives a do-it-now impulsiveness to every day activities.

Capricorn has a dutiful quality coupled with a practical slant. This kind of energy helps accomplish dreaded tasks that might make a person inclined to procrastinate. Cancer lends energy to domestic activities and child care. Moon in Virgo inspires cleaning, and favors activities that require patience.

In the fall, two spectacular full moon events grace planet earth with lustrous beauty - Harvest Moon and Hunter's moon. As these names may indicate, the night is so light filled that harvesting and hunting can go on all through the night. Mushroom hunting is marked as a Harvest moon event, as well. The full moon is bigger than life during the Hunter's moon. Under clear skies, the moonlight actually casts shadowy silhouettes in clear definition.

The evening skies are a source of wonder and beauty. . . Following the moonsigns, as a long lived tradition, imbues a feeling of being in the flow of celestial energy. Moonsign astrology and everyday life encompasses an integration of the environment and human existence within a wonderful and orderly universe.
