Asus Eee 904HD: The Best Mini Laptop Ever!

Have We Finally Found the Desktop Replacement?

For years, I've been an ardent Dell fan and was excited to see and own the Dell Inspiron Mini 9. I still love my Dell and will continue to use it for years to come but the new kid on the block is giving even Dell a run for their money. The Asus Eee 904HD is by far the only mini thus far to be comparable in storage size, power and battery life to standard-size laptops. It's a 9" monster, weighing in at a svelte 1.4kg, yet once you are using the 904HD, you forget you're working on a mini. It's not just another pretty face either, the Eee 904HD is sporting a lot of power under that little hood.

Finally, Asus has made it possible to have a great mini laptop and not miss the DVD drive so much. The generous 160GB hard drive provides enough space for resource-hungry programs like Photoshop and Office and you even have enough room to load up movies and still have room. A high resolution 9" screen is easy to read and allows the user to view a full page without scrolling. Wireless connectivity is easy and fast, this mini comes equipped with 802.11b & g.

If you're like me, you love to watch movies pretty much anywhere possible. Believe it or not, I purchased the Asus Eee 904HD specifically so that I could load it up with movies to watch on the go. It doesn't disappoint either, with an amazing 5 hour battery life I can go across the country with my favorite flicks. I'm still not certain why, but the 904HD also comes with a camera on board. I suppose those of us who like to communicate via webcam will find this feature useful.

I will suggest the if you buy the Eee 904HD, you use Linux rather than XP. Despite this mini's power, Linux continues to be less resource-obsessed then Windows XP. Keep in mind also that if you are buying this for an everyday user, Linux is nearly crash and virus proof, as opposed to Windows. Regardless of which operating system you choose, the Asus Eee 904HD will provide you with hours of appreciation for the power of this little machine. Who knows, you may even consider the 904HD as your new primary computer. Hmm, maybe we have finally found the replacement for the standard laptop!
