ASUS N10E A1 Review - Great Looking Netbook

Corey Roberts
People who value the ability to use a fully functional communication device without having to lug around a heavy laptop will appreciate the ASUS N10E A1 netbook. Net books are becoming popular due to their lightweight designs (most weighing around 2.5 lbs) and bare bones operating systems. When asking a typical computer user about the tasks that they perform when using a laptop, they will tell you that they only use their notebook to search the internet and check e-mail. If you only use your laptop for very basic functions such as word processing and the occasional solitaire game, then you are absolutely paying way too much for your notebook. Another reason why netbook purchases are becoming more attractive is due to the price. Simple computer users do not demand expensive Intel Core Duo processors and large amounts of hard-drive space. This is one of the main reasons why notebooks are so expensive. The ASUS N10E provides a nearly fully functional laptop replica without the enormous price tag.

ASUS N10E A1 Specifications

The ASUS N10 is very attractive, yet simple and looks like a typical high-powered notebook. The difference in weight however, is quite considerable as the netbook weighs a mere 3 lbs. There are quite a few netbooks that weigh less than 3 lbs, but the reason why the ASUS weighs a little bit more is because of the 10.2 WXGA anti-glare display. There is always a trade-off between screen size and weight, and the buyer will have to determine whether or not they want to sacrifice weight for a larger screen. The keyboard is easy to use and the keys are not too loud when pushing down on the keypad. On the technical side, the ASUS netbook has a 1.60 Intel Atom processor and supports 1GB of RAM. The N10E-A1 also holds a 160GB hard drive, which is becoming the standard for most netbooks. 160GB is a considerable amount of hard drive space for people who only use their netbooks for surfing the internet. The selling point of this laptop is the design, which is an attention grabber.

Price and Availability

The ASUS N10E-A1 is priced around $360-$420 on various internet retailer websites such as NewEgg.Com. The price is a little bit more than the HP 100NR net books and one will have to evaluate the brand when considering their purchase.
