Out of the box the Asus-Eee PC Netbook took less than five minutes to set up. It hooked up easily to the internet and has wireless capabilities. The Web sites load quick and there is no lag time, like on my desktop, with my favorite facebook games; Farmville and Café World.
My favorite aspect of the Asus - Eee PC Netbook is its portability. Working on my thesis has involved a lot of travelling to libraries and research centers. Only having my desktop has required the use of notebooks and the time consuming transfer of my notes to the computer. The Asus - Eee PC Netbook is so small and lightweight that I don't even feel I am carrying it and I am able to do everything I need to get done in a shorter amount of time.
The Asus-Eee PC Netbook's built in webcam has proven itself worthy by the many video chats I have taken part in with my best friend who is currently working in Hawaii. It makes keeping in touch more personal than writing an email or a text message.
There are a few things that one has to get used to however when moving from a desktop to a netbook. First the Asus-Eee PC Netbook has no disk drives. To compensate for this I use a flash drive to transfer and save files. Second was the condensed keyboard. It's taken some time but I can type without cramping fingers.
If there is anything negative to say about the Asus-Eee PC Netbook might be the 3 hour and 48 minutes of battery life. For me however, this is not a problem because I will be using it for my research and every library has tables with plug ports. Another negative might be if you're looking for the new Windows 7 as the Asus - Eee PC Netbook comes with Windows XP.
I love my Asus-Eee PC Netbook and give it a big two thumbs up if you're looking for portability and quality all in one. It is currently on sale for $249.99 at www.bestbuy.com and comes with a sleek zipper case.

Post a CommentGreat info for those looking to purchase a netbook!
Netbooks are cool - but I think I'll wait for Apple to bring out that Slate or iSlate or whatever they're calling it. Nice review.
Had a netbook - briefly. SMall and light but, with the Atom processor - even with 2GB of RAM (the max) installed... too s...l...o...w and hard to see. So, I split the difference, sold it, dumped the big laptop (16") and got a much lighter 14" that does the job nicely. Like Blackberries, the netbooks are best suited to those with young eyes!
