At the Bottom of the Well

Barry Shaw Sr.
I fell in a hole that turned out to be a Water Well. One of those Wells from days gone by used to access water in the ground. The Well sits in the middle of about half an acre. You've been warned to stay away, to be careful around this Well because there is no longer a canopy signifying that it's there. You only know it's there because of a few remnants left behind. Over the course of time it is covered by debris and it's an excavation that has long been unkempt and forgotten, but it's still there. Now, low and behold, you find yourself inexplicably, at the bottom of the Well.

At this point, it really doesn't matter how you got there. It really doesn't matter that there were warning signs that you've seen time and again. What matters and what is extremely critical for your immediate survival is how do you extricate yourself from this life threatening predicament? I cannot fly, or perform any other super-human feats, therefore I am going to need some assistance, but no one knows that I am here.

There are usually a combination of issues that placed you at the bottom of the Well. Many Americans can now relate to this analogy because their dire financial straits place them at the bottom of the Well. The reasons for this predicament can be quite complex and very simple. As we continue to try to find a way out, as there seems to be no way, we can go the scapegoat route. We can blame the government, George W. Bush, the economy, our previous employer, predatory lending, whomever. There are many to blame because the scapegoat list is long, illogical, and it serves to stroke our ego, to give us an excuse, or maybe even a way out? Maybe not, because after your pity-party (which is what blaming others amounts to) you're still at the bottom of the Well.

At the core of your dilemma is You. The common denominator of all the probable reasons you are where you are at this very moment, is You. Look in the mirror and proclaim to yourself, "You got me in this mess, and You will have to get me out of it!" Plain and simple. You say to yourself, "there is no way humanly possible for me to get myself out of this quandary." In the secular sense, you are correct, however, your answer lies in the Spiritual realm. It's time to call on your Higher Self; that Inner Being that has always attached itself to the Divine.

It doesn't matter what you call it; doesn't matter what religion you subscribe to. You have reached a crossroad in your life that has now forced you to confront your Inner Self. Scapegoating is futile at this point and it only hurts you. Resorting to the blame-game will not get you out of that Well? It can't, it's up to you and the Divine Intelligence that is inherent in all of us. This intrinsic Spirit may have been lying dormant for years but it's there nonetheless. Time is not your ally at this particular moment. Your current predicament does not afford you the opportunity to barter, because bartering takes place in the secular world.

There is no negotiating with the Soul. It's time to come correct and simply be accountable. Acknowledge the fact that you are of the flesh, you've made mistakes, and you're now at a point where you need your Spiritual Guides to alter your immediate path. Communicate with your Divine Spirit and you will be miraculously pulled from the Well. Makes no sense whatsoever to fabricate to your Inner Being because it knows everything about you. No sense in trying to sugarcoat your conversation. Talk to your Divine Spirit as if you were talking to a very close friend. You're at the Bottom of the Well hanging on by a wing and a prayer. A prayer or conversation that eventually brings enlightenment, Grace is what you will receive as you linger and lament at the Bottom of the Well. And it is Grace that will bring you out of a dark and desolate situation, of which you thought, there was no way out.

What scary analogy here! I think it's not alwas true that the reason one is stuck financally is is his or her own fault. I think, though, that we need realize it is through our own actions that we can get ouot of the weln track, and balanced.

Very well done. It's true that God is the only source of everything. What we need now is to trust in the divine Power. No one can take us out from the bottom of the well except HIM who can turn all the impossible into possible. Nice work.

I know Gods Grace and Mercy has been the only thing that has brought me through. Great article.
