At the Sound of the Tone

Johnny Yuma
I decided to give my wife a call recently.

We had an argument the night before, and I wanted to apologize.

I heard that phone begin its ringing--

Then her lovely voice saying,

"I can't take your call right now, but you are welcome to leave me a message.

You can start when you hear the tone.

'Cause at the sound of the tone is when I will be gone."

She said that she was tired of fighting and would be back no more.

She said if I want to fight I could just fight with myself.

Now my wife and I love one another dearly--

But no one can agree all the time.

That's the one thing she doesn't understand.

That's what makes her so difficult to live with.

But I want her back, and I'm wasting no time going after her--

Because I know she is my one true love.

Based on a song by Tony Carson that I heard on the Gene Williams show early last Saturday morning, January 23, 2010. Tony is one of the regular players on Genes show, but he doesn't usually do much talking or singing unless it is backup singing for the regular Katie Lynn or one of the guests. The Gene Williams Country music show is based in Branson, MO and comes on in this area of Arkansas on KARK Channel 4 at 6:00 A.M every Saturday morning for 30 minutes. It is a good show with Gene visiting his guests and giving them a chance to pitch where they are appearing and singing a couple of songs. It would, however, be a better show if there would be less talking and more singing and an hour long rather than 30 minutes would be nice too.

I do enjoy that TV show if I happen to be up that early in the morning which I often am. If I am on Saturday, however, it's because I'm still up and never gone to bed yet. I quite often stay up all night writing and reading. I do more sleeping in the daytime than at night since I have retired. Thanks for the reads and comments. Johnny
