At-Home Spa Treatment: Rose Petal Steam Facial

A little pampering at the end of a long day is exactly what most of us dream of, but the cost and time restraints makes a trip to the spa more of a fantasy then a reality.

The good news is, that with a few simple ingredients, you can give yourself a luxurious spa treatment in the comfort of your own home at any time of day or night.

Spa facials are perhaps one of the most relaxing and pampering treatments that can be asked for. While there are many at-home facials that are absolutely wonderful, one of the simplest and most beneficial is the rose petal facial steam spa treatment. Rose petals and rosewater have been used for hundreds of years in Europe as a tonic for healthy skin and for releasing toxins from pores.

All you need to set up your very own spa steam facial treatment is one cup of fresh rose petals, one gallon of water, a large bowl, and a towel. Once you have all of your ingredients you want to place the rose petals in the large bowl and then heat the gallon of water on the stovetop. Just before the water comes to a boil, remove it from the stovetop and pour it slowly over the rose petals. Once the water is in the bowl you should see steam rising from it.

Now that your rose petal steam facial is ready you will want to create a little steam tent. To do so, drape your towel over your head and let it fall to either side of the bowl as you lean your face down towards the water. Do not place your face too close to the water, twelve inches above the bowl is perfect.

In order to allow your skin to fully absorb the steam, you will want to remain with your face over the bowl for approximately 10 minutes or until the steam is completely gone. After this time you will want to pat your face dry very gently. Almost instantly your skin will feel healthier, more hydrated, and incredibly smooth. Spending this time over the bowl of steam is also very relaxing in that it allows you time to meditate or just be in a very calm state of mind, which is the perfect way to end a hectic day.

Going to a spa is not always a reality for most of us, although it is something we definitely covet. Having a luxuriating at-home spa facial can be just as relaxing without taking a bite out of your pocketbook or daily planner. A few simple ingredients and less then 20 minutes will have your skin feeling baby-smooth and your mind at ease.
