Atlanta is referred to as "Hotlanta" because of the hot summer sun. Usual June weather consist of humidity and scorching 90 degree days. With perfect summer weather for and over 13 expanses of sand along a shore Atlanta is the place for fun in the sun! Come visit the ATL! Don't forget to grab your bikini, swim shorts, and sun block!

Lake Lanier Islands Beach and Water Park is a popular destination for summer excitement! Tons of shows, water slides, the largest wave pool in Georgia, and a water attraction that features more than 100 ways to get super soaked! Kids love the kiddie lagoon! Complete with age-appropriate water slides and a kid-sized wave pool Lake Lanier is this summer's destination! Grab a lounge chair on the beach for some sand play and relaxation! The park also includes food and beverage services, showers, and changing areas. The only possible downside is visitors aren't allowed to bring coolers filled with food or drinks. Sun Valley Beach has the largest swimming pool in the Southeast! The 1.5 acres, of fresh water, are surrounded by beaches! With 40 acres of beautiful Georgia pine and shady hardwood trees to offer shade and relaxation. The children's section has a pool that is ankle deep and goes to a depth of 14 feet. Dolphin slides, gorilla swings, and a showering umbrella attrack the smaller kids. The older children can enjoy the water slides, tarzan ropes, and log roll. Summer day camp is offered on weekdays for kids ages 5 to 14. Activities are focused around the pool. Other activities include volleyball, team sports, nature hikes, team building exercises, self-esteem skills, and craft projects that match weekly themes. Before and after care are available too. Clayton County Beach is inside Clayton County International Park. The beach is a manmade shore, which leads to a spring-fed lake with kiddie pools, slides, sun decks, and a water trampoline. A skim board area, beach bikes, water slides, and volleyball courts are also main attractions. A six-acre lake with a fountain is great for water sports. An indoor playground, an arcade area, and mini-golf are good places to get out of the hot sun and water for a moment. Covered pavilions are available for rental with water, electricity, and grills. Red Top Mountain State Park is located on the shores of Lake Allatoona. A great area for swimming, boating, and fishing. You can bring your own boat or rent one from the park. Hiking trails wind through the park, and lead to a hisotical log cabin which is fully staffed. The park has a lodge, restaurant, and meeting facilities. A paved trail behind the restaurant is wheelchair and stroller accessable. Picnic shelters are available for rental which are enclosed and heated for year-round use. They have kitchens with stoves, refrigerators, and private bathrooms. Bicycles are not permitted on any trails, and pets are allowed if they are leashed. Red Top is named after it's soil. Red Georgia soil is commonly called "red Georgia clay" is quite messy when it rains. The red color of the soil is caused by high iron-ore content. Please call 770.975.0055 for more information.

The water activities are endless in "Hotlanta." If you get too thirsty you can stop by the World of Coca-Cola and sample some flavors of cola. Be sure to see Olympic Park and Atlanta Botanical Garden, which have fountains for kids to splash and run through. Atlanta is the place to be this summer!
