Atlanta Braves Baseball Spring Training Camp Information

Few things are as true as the saying that hope springs eternal and never was more true than at baseball's spring training camps. For many of us it is an annual ritual migration to Florida or Arizona to share this wonderful experience. I have had the opportunity to visit my favorite team, the Atlanta Brave's spring training camp in central Florida during this magical time of the year and I look forward to another year.

It is not only a magical time of year but the Atlanta Braves spring training takes place near the Magic Kingdom of Disney World. In fact the stadium where they play their home spring training games is called "Champion Stadium At Disney's Wide World Of Sports" near Kissimee Florida. They are actually in the little town of Lake Buena Vista, familiar to anyone that has visited Disney World outside Orlando, Florida.

This year, Atlanta Braves spring training promises more than many previous years in stories of hope for new careers and perhaps the close of hall of fame careers. Perhaps the two biggest stories concern the careers of third baseman Chipper Jones and manager Bobby Cox. This may be the final spring training for both of these legendary Braves. Bobby Cox has announced that he will retire after the 2010 season and Chipper Jones has said that if he is not satisfied with his performance this season he may not return in 2011 as well.

Another good reason to visit the Atlanta Braves spring training is to get a look at the man major league baseball has tagged as the best major league prospect of the year. Twenty year old outfielder Jason Heyward was almost too hot for the minor leagues last year. He will be the center of attention for Braves fans and the media in March. He may not go to Atlanta to start the season but the Braves may need him in the batting order before the season is over.

Other players to watch are new acquisitions Troy Glaus at first base and Melkey Cabrera with veteran Eric Hinske in the outfield. With the strong pitching staff returning from last year and some run production from the new guys plus Nate McClouth and Matt Diaz, the Braves should be able to give Chipper Jones some hitting protection. Add in Silver Slugger catcher Brian McCann and the Braves should have a good chance to make the playoffs this year.

The Braves spring training playing field and stadium is a great place to see your favorite players up close. They start their spring training schedule on Wednesday March 3rd at home against the New York Mets. You can access the entire spring training schedule at http://atlanta.braves.mlb.com and tickets start at just $15.00 to $19.00 for lawn seating. Children under three are admitted free if they can sit in an adult's lap. No strollers, umbrellas or lawn chairs are allowed. Reserved and bleacher seats are priced from $24.00 to $39.00 and the gates open 2 hours prior to the start of the game. I suggest you go online to purchase your tickets since the games are very popular and sell out early. Play Ball.
