Atlanta Bread Company in Lawton, Oklahoma

The Place to Enjoy a Great Meal in a Relaxing Atmosphere

Becky Smith
Tuesday is "Kid's Night" at Atlanta Bread Company in Lawton, OK. From 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. they have a magician on hand who will stop at your table and entertain the kids with magic tricks. He also makes some nifty swords and flowers out of balloons.

My kids enjoyed the magic and ate the better part of their dinners, so I considered it a success.

Atlanta Bread Company is divided between a bakery and a café. Your food is prepared quickly, but there is a relaxing atmosphere that is conducive to conversation. There is also a Wi-Fi connection for those who cannot bear to be away from their computer.

The café offers an extensive menu of sandwiches, salads, soups, and even oven baked, gourmet pizzas, such as chicken mushroom, four cheese, BBQ pizza, and white pizza.

I often order the Chopstix Chicken Salad, which has fresh greens, mandarin oranges, grilled chicken, slivered almonds, and crispy Chinese noodles. It is served with a slice of French bread, as are all the salads. The vegetables are always fresh and the dressing is tasty.

My husband enjoys the Loaf of Soup. It is potato soup served in a bread bowl. The soup has always been steaming hot, creamy, and has big chunks of potato.

Their sandwiches are excellent and made on your choice of their freshly baked bread with crisp greens, ripe tomatoes, and onions. Often a whole one is too much, so you can order half a sandwich with a cup of soup or half a salad.

The bakery is the place to order from in the morning. You can enjoy a hot cup of gourmet coffee, or specialty coffees including flavored lattes, caramel macchiato, and café mocha, all of which can be served iced if you prefer.

Also on the bakery menu are tempting treats like muffins, muffin tops, croissants, bagels, Danish, cookies, and pastries including bear claws, pecan rolls, and cinnamon rolls.

If you are in the mood for a cool drink you may want to indulge in a smoothie or cafechillo.

Fresh baked breads are also on the market at Atlanta Bread Company. Sourdough, Asiago cheese, rye, nine grain and pumpernickel breads are for sale alongside challah, focaccia, and baguettes.

The menu items are moderately priced in the $6- $7 range and sandwiches are served with potato chips. The food is good and is made even better when it can be eaten in a relaxing atmosphere.

Atlanta Bread Company is located in the Sheridan Square shopping center at the corner of Sheridan Road and Gore Blvd. They are open Monday- Friday 6:30 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Saturdays 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Sundays 8:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.
