Atlanta's a big place and a lot of people there own dogs. With more and more dog-owners living in condos and apartments in the city, they often feel bad for their dogs being confined much of the day in their smaller spaces. Thus, human guilt has generated a huge and booming business not only in Atlanta, but all across the country. Big cities everywhere are seeing more luxurious grooming centers, spas and even day-care places that will pamper and entertain dogs in some ways that seem, well, almost nuts. Whatever one thinks, it's big business and growing bigger. I looked at what some of these places offer around the Atlanta metro area and was completely surprised. It sure gives me pause. Maybe it's a business that people who love animals should seriously look into. Some of these folk just have to be making over six figures yearly.

Royal paws has everything imaginable, from spa treatments, grooming, music, massages, and top products and supplements to the very first private dog park in Alpharetta! Their Fulton day-care facility has ten acres of fenced land where dogs can run, play and even take swims in their own private lake. Now, the Alpharetta Park is even grander, with twelve acres of rolling land and some woods with a lake and supervised oversight. They have agility fields, breed groups, obedience training and even dog festivals. Whew. The day care option is only for Mon., Wed., Th., and Fri.
Experienced personal trainers will walk and play with their charges in the park. Purchasing an unlimited, three-day a week pass will save people money. Dogs have to go through screening first, to see if they're well behaved enough to use this facility. It costs $22 per day, but the $210 pass is a better deal for people who will use the park a lot.

The Atlanta Dog Spa is another choice for doggie day care and/or grooming. dogs come in then spend a morning playing and romping on the grounds. They come in for a movie and lunch, then they go back out for play and running till pick-up. It costs $18 for a half-day, $24 for a full day. The Spa will throw a birthday party for canine friends for $100 and two hours of birthday cake, treats, and even special photography. But I'd have him groomed first! Naturally, they can do this too. The Fuminator treatment for $55 eliminates the thick undercoat where most of the intense shedding originates. They also do nail grinding after clipping to smooth out clipped toenails. The OXY-Med treatment is given to dogs with problem itchy skin using colloidal oatmeal and other natural ingredients. Contact them by phone to see about appointments.
