Attending a Vampire Ball this Halloween? What to Wear

Vampire Vixen Clothing Must Haves

Kelly Spies
People who claim to live as real sanguinarian vampires are not as easy to spot as you would think. Most of them don't dress like Goths and therefore appear to be just like you and me but to a vampire, Halloween is for corsets and thigh-high stiletto boots and here is a list of things you'll need if you plan on participating in a Vampyric Halloween as a Vampire Vixen.

Corsets
Every Vampire Vixen needs a corset. They are a part of the dangerous sex appeal that vampires exude. Here are some excellent vampishly wicked corset sellers.

Dare Gothic Clothing -Corsets sold at Dare Gothic Clothing are HOT! They come in a wide range of styles and sizes but all are ready-to-wear. These corsets are not just made for costume purposes though; they are very expensive and are meant to be worn on a regular basis.

For a lower priced alternative The Spooky Boutique sells corsets that will have you spell bound. Their cheapest corset goes for around $22 dollars and is fantastic looking. All corsets sold at the Spooky Boutique are made of PVC and come in a variety of sizes.

Gowns
A Vampire Vixen needs a gown to go over (or under) that corset. Some of the prettiest gowns are those of a dark persuasion. Custom tailor made is my personal favorite but if you don't have the ability to make your own gown here are a couple of places you can purchase one.

When it comes to gowns you can't go wrong by ordering from Drac-in-a-box. This is a widely used eStore amongst the real vampire community. Their gowns are fashionable, beautiful, frightening and exquisitely made.

For something sexy, scary and expensive try Faernyn's Grove Sustainable Clothing. The materials used in the making of the gowns and other pieces of clothing are 100% organic eco-friendly. Best of all, each piece is guaranteed.

Shoes and Boots
Every girl loves shoes. New shoes can make or break a great night out and Halloween is all about being on your feet. Vampire Vixens are known for rocking out stiletto boots and here's where you can find some of your own.

Booty Cocktails make me drool. If I could own every single pair of boots and shoes they have I could die a happy woman. No matter what your gown looks like, you are sure to find great boots to match at Booty Cocktails.

For a more industrial goth slash punk type of boot, Rivithead is the way to go. They have boots that range from big and clompy to sleek and sexy. Personally I find their boots to be on the Witchy side but for the price of them they are a good deal. I own several pair of Rivithead boots so I must warn you, comfort is not high on their list of priorities.

Make-up
No Vampire Vixen outfit is complete without horrifying make-up to die for. Here is where the Real Vampire Vixens are buying their faces.

Whether you are hoping to portray a gothic slut or freshly bitten vampire vixen Ipso Facto has what you need. They have just about every imaginable goth cosmetic you can think of. Ask any Sanguinarian or goth if they've hear of Ipso Facto and they'll tell you, "whut evah! Of course."

I want to work for Bloody Mary. I want the comic books, the clothes, the shoes and I want to work in their Circus of Fear Haunted Attraction. Bloody Mary's carries all the cosmetics you will ever need and they even have a diagram and tips for how to apply the make-up. Best of all, all products are made right here in the USA.

Fangs
I bet you thought I forgot about this one huh? You wish. I once did a survey on the different types of fangs and which type most sanguinarians prefer and oddly enough it was the classic fang that rated the highest. The best fangs are going to be ones custom made by a fangsmith like Dnash but since not everyone can travel to him and afford them here are some cheap slip-on alternatives.

You can find cheap slip-on vampire fangs in a variety of styles at VampFangs for around $15. They've been in business since 1993 and have become a reliable source of vamp fashion for those actively involved in vampire costumery. VampFangs ships within 24 hours of purchase so they'll arrive just in time for Halloween.

As far as theatrical stage fangs go I love Dental Distortions fangs the best. They look so creepy it will make your skin crawl. There are 18 styles of veneer teeth to choose from that are made of dental acrylic. A pair of Dental Distortion fangs will cost you around twenty bucks and come with instructions for fitting, use and cleaning.

There you have, an insider's guide to how you can achieve the vampire vixen look without haunting the local Hot Topic, which by the way, you should avoid at all cost lest you are pointed out as a pathetic poser.

Great article! Too bad Spooky Boutique doesn't seem to have corsets anymore. On the topic of fangs though, have you seen VampFangs' new retractable fangs? They are totally amazing. I'm one of those "this isn't a costume, I always look like this" types, so this article is getting bookmarked for future shopping :)

    Hi there,
I live in R.I. and have never been to the Vampire ball. Do they all dress gothic or can I wear a victorian costume. I had a costume made from a place in Providence, called 'Bruna costumes. They do have a lot of gothic costumes and the prices are so reasonable. For anyone looking for vampire teeth. They have the lowest prices. It's amazing. I paid 20.00 at a halloween store and then saw the same ones for only 6.00. I was ripping.
Anyway if you need a costume, come to Providence.

Very cool! I was sort of a vampire for Halloween, but I only went to the mall. I don't think people "got it" because I didn't bother wearing teeth...I just said I was a Buffyverse vampire without my "face" on.

I think vampire costumes are hot! I didn't see many this past Halloween.
