Soon Baltimore will be rockin' once again at the Virgin Mobile Festival, a music festival created by billionaire Richard Branson. The event, which has had much success in previous years, has set the date and location for 2008. Music fans will be gathering once again at the Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore Maryland August 9th and 10th, 2008. The festival is situated in a prime location, being only a few hours from major cities such as Philadelphia, Washington D.C., and New York City.

The festival itself is a spin-off of the V Festival, an annual music festival which the Virgin Group has held in England since 1996. The first Virgin Mobile Festival took place in both Toronto Canada and Baltimore Maryland in 2006. The United States event at Pimlico showcased headliners Red Hot Chili Peppers, as well as the legendary rock band The Who. The overall response has been huge since its debut, easily labeled the largest music festival situated on the east coast of the United States.

Although the Virgin Mobile Festival is primarily a music event, there are other side attractions and incredible art exhibits that are featured as well. Alternative rock and electronic music play a big part of the event. The Smashing Pumpkins, 311, Amy Winehouse, Beastie Boys, Interpol, Panic at the Disco, and The Police were just a small selection of musical acts showcased during the two day festival in 2007. The second annual event turned out to be highly successful, paving the way and inspiring additional festivals to come.

The event is also known for its focus on environmental issues and awareness, encouraging those who attend the event to become educated on ways to help improve the environment. Virgin Mobile has made contributions towards certain educational programs to help others become aware of renewable energy development strategies.

The concert festival will once again be produced and promoted by I.M.P. Concerts Inc, a Bethesda Maryland based promoter. The promoter has been continuously focused on improving festival issues such as transportation, restroom facilities, and crowd control. The company has had over twenty five years of experience producing music events, which during that time have hosted millions of music fans.

The 2008 Virgin Mobile Festival lineup can be found at their official website. The site offers all the official updates and information for those who are interested in attending the two day event. Details such as event schedules, tickets, directions, parking, and special needs accommodations can be found at the website. If you are interested in camping or staying at a nearby hotel, the site provides you with all the necessary information to plan your visit.
