No need to elaborate further, because you've most probably lived through it already. The awkwardness and confusion experienced by many during those years, still might bring a shudder to some. Do you ever think about moments of fear and apprehension that made you complacent or indecisive back then? Did you miss the opportunity to catapult yourself forward in life, on more than one occasion, because of pressure, fear, or lack of motivation? Do you want your children to have the same regrets or make some of the wrong decisions, so many others have?
How thrilled would you be to know that your son is armed with the right tools to keep focused, confident, and steadfast in his pursuits? How would you feel, knowing that your daughter carries your most important values alongside her everywhere she ventures, and into every situation she might encounter?
Our public schools have become a place where those students that choose to overachieve and stray away from pressures and trouble are not being supported properly - the efforts they put forth are readily being overlooked by staff and educators who are hell-bent on simply maintaining state requirements and test scores. As long as they meet state minimums, they keep getting their state funding. Unfortunately, this thirst for annual funds, has enabled a dangerous climate of complacency to creep into our public school system.
There's no reason why your child needs to settle for less. A small amount of effort, on your part, could mean the difference between mediocre and amazing.
