Attention Veterans: Applebee's Appreciates You with a Free Meal on Veteran's Day

A Guide to Help You Get the Most of Your Free Meal

Rose Ellen
Veteran's deserve to be recognized all year around. November 11th is the day designated for them. On Veteran's day many businesses have special appreciation gifts for Veteran's. Applebee's is offering a free meal entree from a select list to every veteran who comes in on Veteran's Day.

The Fine Print:

As with all businesses it is important to read the fine print when taking advantage of free offers at Applebee's this Veteran's Day.

Dine-in Only

Show proof of military service:

Veterans must bring evidence of military service when you come in to receive your free entree from Applebee's. Veterans can meet this requirement in a variety of ways. On Veteran's day you can wear your uniform, or bring a picture of yourself in uniform. Veterans can also bring any citations or commendations that you received. These options would probably be the most interesting to the staff working. You can also bring any military active or retired identification cards, Veterans organization cards, or your current LES or DD214 when you come in for your free meal entree.

Only at Participating Applebee's:

You need to call the Applebee's in your area ahead of time to see if it is offering the Veteran's day free meal entree to veterans in your area. While you are at it, I recommend that you ask for their hours of operation on November 11th. This day is likely to be busy at Applebee's so claiming your free meal entree during off hours and earlier in the day might be best.

Limited Menu:

On Veteran's day you are limited to 6 options for your free meal. It is always wise when taking advantage of a free meal offer to decide what you want ahead of time so that ordering can go more quickly. Additionally, if you are going later in the day, Applebee's might be out of a particular item so selecting back up choices is always wise.

Three-Cheese Penne:

This pasta dish is delicious and savory. It is a rich yet simple dish. Pasta, Alfredo, grilled chicken and cheese. Who thought something so simple could be so good? Of course it is even better because it is free.

Fire Pit Bacon Burger:

Applebee's sure knows how to do a bacon burger. Applewood smoked bacon is the only way. This burger has a southwest kick to it with chipotle spread and pepper-jack cheese. A bit to spicy for my taste but perfect for the spice loving veteran.

Fiesta Lime Chicken:

This is one of Applebee's signature dishes. I've said I'm not much into spicy so I haven't tried this one myself. Anything that Applebee's is going to call it's own has to be good though. The chicken is topped with lime sauce, mexi-ranch, cheese and pico de gallo. Your free dish also comes with rice and tortilla chips.

Chicken Tenders Platter:

This free meal choice is perfect for the veteran who wants just a simple lunch for his or her Veteran's Day celebration. Simply put it is chicken tenders with fries and cole slaw. I always have chicken tenders as a fail-safe. When I'm indecisive, chicken tenders are always good.

7oz House Sirloin:

In my limited experience, Applebee's has the best steak outside of a steakhouse. It certainly has the best free steak. For Veteran's day, the 7oz steak is my recommendation for a free meal to make a veteran feel appreciated.

Oriental Chicken Salad:

For those veterans who are more of the salad type, the oriental chicken salad is the way to go. This salad is also an Applebee's signature dish. Looking at the picture is making my mouth water. Fresh greens and oriental vinaigrette make a winning combination even before you add the chicken, almonds and crispy noodles.

To everyone who reads this. Find a veteran this year and let them know what their dedication means to you. Find a way to celebrate and recognize the veterans you know this Veteran's day. There are many ways to do this. Thank you Applebee's for helping us to remember this Veteran's Day and giving us one more way to show our appreciation.

Good one - too bad more restaurants don't follow their lead. I'll be passing the word (or the link to your article) along. Cheers!
