Article of Yoga for Beginners

All beginning yoga students are fearful. They feel as though they need to do all the difficult asanas at once. Asanas are just a fancy word for pose. As a beginner yogi or yogini, you will need a few helpful tips. I am the yogini who will assist you in your beginnership. Are you ready? Great!

Step 1. Alwaygs get limbered up before you try anything. If you try to stretch into different poses without a proper warm-up, you will risk injury.

Step 2. Mentally, you must get into proper attunement. This simply means: RELAX!!!!!

Step 3. Create your sacred space, whether it be a garage floor, your living room, or at your local gym. Your yoga mat can be your portable scared space.

Step 4. Calm breathing can help alot. Yoga focuses on deep breathing. Remembering to connect yourself with your universe is PARAMOUNT!

Step 5. Lying flat on your back on your mat really helps to begin a simple meditation. And remember to keep a favorite blanket near while deep meditating, because your body temperature does drop when you lie still and meditate. A blanket can help stablilize your temperature.

Step 6. Full body stretches are great for beginning yogis and yoginis. Lie on your mat flat on your back and stretch out your arms. Imagine yourself touching the tiny stars and cosmos!!! You are one with God's universe!!!!

All beginning yoga students are fearful! That is okay and you can do it! Here are some helpful tips to remember when you practice your yoga or other exercise regimen:

Tip 1. Take a relaxing bath before your stretch, it will help soothe you mentally and physically.

Tip 2. Try not to exercise on a full stomach, because this can cause stomach cramping. If you do eat, do not exercise right away and allow at least four hours to pass by.

Tip 3. If you stretch during the Spring and Summer, your muscles will be more limber than they are in the Winter. Old Man Winter has a way of stiffening up the yogis and yoginis, so allow more time to warm-up in the Winter.

Tip 4. Setting aside all of your anxiety will help you attain the poses you wish to achieve. The more positive your attitude, the better your stretching will be!

Good luck and God bless!
