The murder of WABC Radio newsman, George Weber, has been foul and sordid from its inception. Weber, 47, reportedly hired his alleged killer, John Katehis, 16, from Craigslist for sadomasochistic (S & M) sex. The 47-year-old man offered the 16-year-old boy $60 to have rough sex with him, according to the Huffington Post.

The overall coverage of this murder has been foul, as well. Weber is described as a well-liked and well-regarded member of his neighborhood by AfterElton and a consummate journalist with a successful radio career by ABC News. The NY Daily News has posted Weber's picture with Mayor Bloomberg. It lends to the air that Weber is an upstanding member of the community.

It is illegal and immoral to have sex with minors. It is illegal and immoral to pay minors for sex. Adult men who behave in this way have a perversion; they are perverts. If anyone "without" media friends committed these sex acts, the words "wacko" and "sicko" would have been plastered everywhere as they were in Michael Jackson's case, even after his death.

I have no desire to defame the deceased. However, we cannot overlook the issue of unfair and imbalanced media in our society for media shapes public perception. A crime is the same crime whether committed by a pauper or a king. The media alters coverage of crimes based upon the social status of the perpetrator. This contributes to social inequality in our society. It is foul play.

Now, there is a foul in this sordid murder's trial. The defense attorney has a prior beef with the judge. He wants the judge to recuse himself because he thinks the beef will prevent the defendant from getting a fair trial, reports the NY Post. The lawyer is claiming a personal foul.

From the skyscrapers of NYC, I face strength. From the people of NYC, I gain understanding. And from the heart of NYC, I feel inspiration. So, I tend to write about the city quite a bit.  View profile
