Attract Attention to Your Content on Associated Content

5 Ways to Promote Your Articles

DeeDee
I've been a member of Associated Content for over two years now but it was only recently I had the time to invest in the site and my writing. Everyday I create a few articles (not as much as I probably should!) and try to promote them the best I can. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication not to mention creativity. With so many other media outlets fighting for your readers attention, you really have to do your best performance to nab their attention span. Now I am not saying I've perfected this - far from it - I am still learning, but here are some of the things that I have tried and plan on trying. I've only seen my page views go up so these ideas must not be too bad!

Put your content producer page in plain view:
There are a lot of places that you have a small blurb about your writing including on your website and blog if you have them, and of course in your email as your signature. I send out tons of email and was surprised at how many people have noticed my signature which include a link to my content producer page and promised to visit. Try something like: Visit my Content Producer page on Associated Content for articles on (list topics here) at: (list URL here).

Create incentive:
I am a big believer in providing incentive to encourage others to do things for me. So far I've contacted everyone in my address book and let them know that if they subscribed to receive my content, I'd enter them into a drawing. I specified a date which was usually a month away and then did a random drawing of all those that signed up. The winner received a $5 gift card to Starbucks. Obviously you can make that prize anything you want. I choose to keep it small since the whole point of Associated Content is to make money! Another option I tried was to let all those already subscribed that if they could convince a new friend to subsribe to my content, them and their friend would be entered into a drawing and both would win a $5 Target gift card. I will confess that didn't go very well but perhpas things would be different for you.

Put it in print:
I have personal business cards that I like to hand out when I meet an old friend or someone who says "Let me write down your number." Giving them the card is just easier. Plus the professionalism of the business card looks better when I interact with editors. Consider getting your own business card and adding your link to your Content Producer page. Business cards are relatively inexpensive now days, particularly when you order from VistaPrint.

Send info to specific organizations:
I belong to a Corvette Club and the perfect way to get out information about the articles I've been writing on the Corvette Culture is to send an email to all members in my Corvette Club. That's on the agenda for the week. That would work just as well with articles about toddlers - you could send emails to mommy groups, etc.

Post information in forums:
Find forums that are interest in whatever topic you are writing about and the post a new thread inviting them to visit a specific aritcle you've written about that topic. Don't send them to your Content Producer page because they may not find the article you are trying to show them.
