Callaway Gardens is a stunning 13,000-acre resort and gardens. This beautiful place is located in Pine Mountain, Georgia. Cason and Virgina-Hand Callaway did this beautiful man-made landscape to offer families a nice, secluded retreat. It is a place to just go spend the day to relax, or with many attractions Callaway Gardens offers, families may want to make a weekend vacation. There is something for everyone when vacationing at Callaway Gardens.

One of the most popular attractions is the Cecil B. Day Butterfly Center; it is the largest free-light butterfly conservatory in North America. It is home to about a 1000 different tropical butterflies, representing more than 50 species. Also, in this glass-enclosed observatory, it houses tropical plants and birds. When visitors come to the butterfly center, they can chose to watch a film that explains the life cycle of butterflies before entering the observatory. The lobby also includes a variety of artwork donated by Deen Day Sanders.

Another attraction to Callaway Gardens is the Birds of Prey show. This show is scheduled daily and features a 2-year-old bald eagle. During this show you will learn about each bird as well as see a flight demonstration. The Bird's of Prey Show teaches also on how to preserve these animals that are going extinct.

If you have children there are many activities for them to do as well, starting with Robin Lake Beach. This beach is one of the largest manmade beaches. At the beach, in addition to swimming, children can enjoy Iceberg Island, miniature golf, table tennis, Chickadee Choo Choo, volleyball, and the paddleboats. Also close to the beach area children can enjoy a fly high circus act under the big top. The Florida State University Fly High circus has been in residence at Callaway Gardens since 1960.

For those who love fishing then Callaway Gardens has something for you to! Fishing here offers some of the finest fishing in the South! The lakes at Callaway Gardens are famous for Brim and Shellcrackers. For the bass fishermen you can head to Mountain Creek Lake or take guided bass fishing trips. Some of these lakes are also stocked with rainbow, brown, and brook trout. Whatever it is your fishing for; Callaway Gardens has it for you!

If it's bicycling your looking for then Callaway Garden's has this to. Families can enjoy cycling together on the 10-mile Discovery Bicycle Trail. This trail opened up in 1989. You can take your time cycling through the gardens to enjoy the wildlife and plant life that Callaway has to offer. This is also a great way to see up close what Callaway Garden's has to offer.
