Attractions in Erie, Pennsylvania

Erie, Pennsylvania is located in Northern Pa, on the shoreline of Lake Erie. There are countless activities to do in Erie, from lying on one of the many sandy beaches of Lake Erie, to Splash Lagoon's indoor water park. Erie, Pa would make an excellent vacation spot for families.

One of the attractions that Erie has is Presque Isle Park. This park is open for day use only. It contains about 15 miles of trails that appeal to hikers, bicyclists, and cross-country skiers. For those devoted fishermen, it's a fisherman's paradise. There is a wide variety of fish to choose from, when fishing in Lake Erie. These fish include perch, walleye, pike, small mouth bass, large mouth bass, white bass, rock bass, blue gill, sun fish, and crappie to name a few. Presque Isle Park has a total of eleven beaches and offers activities such as Jet Ski rentals; charter boats for fishing, or families can rent a boat and make a day out on the open water of Lake Erie. A second attraction that's great for the whole family is Erie Zoo. It is home to over 500 animals, representing more than 100 species, from all over the world. Some animals included at the zoo are polar bears, African lions, and Grant's zebras. There are winding walkways that will take you through beautiful landscape grounds. The landscape features 2500 specimens from 600 species of plants. There is also an addition added called the Children's Zoo. In this area you can view the black-footed penguins and walk through the Australian Walkabout, getting close to the gray kangaroos.

If you're looking for an amusement park or water park, then Waldameer Park and Waterworld will be just what you're looking for. This family-fun park combines a beautiful amusement park with one of the greatest water parks. It offers over 75 rides, slides, and attractions. It's guaranteed to meet the needs of every family member.

One of the main family hot spots in Erie is Splash Lagoon, which is an indoor water park, opened year round. It also has a Laser Tag area and arcade. Some of the features at Splash Lagoon are; a lazy river, a five-story tree house with 12 levels of activities. There is even fun for the wee little ones at Monkey Shine Island. Toddlers can play in its zero depth entry pool, slides, and other water activities. Splash Lagoon contains three major water slides. These are Big Kahuna, The Cyclone, and The Hurricane Hole. There are also three restaurants located inside the park; sure to please every appetite after hours of fun in the water!
