Amish Acres Historic Farm and Heritage Resort
If you want to immerse yourself in the authentic lifestyle of the Amish, then be sure to visit the Amish Acres Historic Farm and Heritage Resort. This attraction, which is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places, is located on eighty acres of beautiful land. There are a number of things to do during your visit here, including a fascinating tour of the grounds, horse and buggy rides, family style dining (which features hearty fare that is typical of the Amish), a wine tasting loft, and numerous shopping opportunities (such as a bakery, the greeting barn, a meat and cheese shop, and a fudgery). When you're done enjoying yourself as this fascinating Amish attraction, feel free to spend the night at the lovely hotel that is also located on the grounds.
Menno-Hof
The Menno-Hof, a non-profit institution that is invested in education, is the perfect place to visit if you want to learn more about the history and beliefs of the Anabaptist Movement (which includes the Amish, Mennonites, and Hutterites). A visit to this fascinating Amish attraction will take you back in time to Switzerland and the beginning of this religious way of life, following them from their beginnings until the present day. There are numerous things to see here, so be sure to set aside at least a few hours to wander through and absorb as much information as possible. You will certainly be glad you did.
The Heritage Trail
If you want to observe some of the finest craftspeople in the country in the midst of their work, then be sure to take a drive along Indiana's Heritage Trail. Along the way you will visit such fascinating artisans as: Lehman-Goertzen Pottery (which produces a number of quality items for both exhibition and kitchen), Quilt Designs (which features over 65 designs of quilt), and Lambright Woodworking (the perfect place to visit if you are currently looking for items to furnish your kitchen). Regardless of what you're looking for, you're sure to find it along the Heritage Trail.
Whether you are visiting for just a day or if you plan on making an entire vacation out of it, there is certainly something in Indiana's Amish Country for every member of your company. So slow down, take your time, and enjoy the Amish and their fascinating way of life.
