Attune to the Wiccan Horned God

The Wiccan Horned God is not the stern, forbidding deity we often associate with the word "God". Instead, He is the universal Father of all, the tender of the wild places and animals, the Sun and the stars, the God of the harvest.

Just as you can attune to the Triple Goddess, so should you come to know and love the Wiccan horned God. He is equal to the Goddess in all things and deserves equal respect and devotion from His followers, the Wicca.

As the Wicca know Him, He is a part of the source of all life, the Sun. The Horned God is portrayed with Horns upon his head, symbolic of His connection with the wild beasts and the hunt. The horned God rules the wild places; the virgin forests, the mountains and deserts. The solar celebrations celebrated by the Wicca honor Him and his power over the wheel of the year.

To attune to the Wiccan Horned God, you may wish to perform a simple rite to Him. Go out of doors early in the morning when the Sun is rising in its strength. If it is not possible to be out of doors and undisturbed, you can go to a window or some place quiet where you can feel the sun's rays.

Feel the energy of the Sun as its rays warm your skin and envision the horned God as He has revealed Himself to you. Let him fill your spirit and your heart with His love. Call to him by chanting, praying or just speaking from your heart. Tell the horned God that you wish to know Him and ask Him to guide you to understanding.

If the sky is cloudy, do not worry. The energy of the Sun and the Wiccan horned God will still reach you and a rite performed will have the same affect as the rite done on a clear day. The most important thing is to really feel Him. Feel the horned God in the warmth of the sun, the awakening of the Earth and everything around you. His warmth brings life to all things.

You might wish to light a candle to help you attune to the Wiccan horned God. A yellow or gold candle would be appropriate as these colors are generally associated with the Sun and thus, the Wiccan Horned God. However, use whatever feels right to you. No form of worship is right or wrong. It can only be right or wrong for you.

Continue to attune to the Wiccan horned God this way until you feel you have built a strong rapport with Him. And then, keep up your simple rite to attune to Him. You may do this on a daily, weekly or monthly basis; whatever works best for you. Soon you will come to know the Wiccan horned God as the loving Father that He is to all of us. I usually wake in the morning to watch the Sun rise and marvel at the beauty while I pray to the Wiccan horned God. This is a simple, yet powerful way to attune to the horned God. Find your own way to Him and He will bless you in all aspects of your life.
