Auburn, AL - There are two words you MUST know before visiting Auburn: War Eagle. People here use these words instead of hello, and if stranger yells this at you, don't be alarmed, just yell it back!

Auburn is a college town, so that means it's buzzing with people autumn to spring. But during the holidays and summertime, the city clears out. This offers a nice break throughout the year. If you're in a party mood, try Skybar Cafe off of College Street when classes are in, but if you want a quiet dinner, try Zazu's or Hamilton's, (also right off of College Street), during summer or winter break.

College Street is the main road in town; it goes right by the campus, and has a great series of shops, cafes, and restaurants for window shopping at its best. Toomer's Corner, named after a legendary Auburn alumni and football coach, is the center of this little Mecca, and it gets toilet-papered every time Auburn wins an athletic event. Toomer's Drug Store is a historical soda shop and gift store right on the corner.

There's a great frozen yogurt place on College Street called Tutti Frutti where you make your own dessert. Pick from a variety of yogurt flavors and add whatever toppings you want from their toppings bar. It's a very yummy dessert option, (and pretty healthy too!) While we're on the topic of food, Naruto Café, (on South College Street), is the best sushi for the best price.

One of the best things about Auburn is that it's only a car ride away from big cities like Atlanta, which has an international airport, nightlife, and other "big city" activities you might not get in Auburn. Montgomery is 45 minutes west and the Gulf of Mexico is only a 3-hour drive south. Enjoy!
