You do need to be careful. There are bird clocks out there that are not the officially licensed clock by the Audubon Society so do make sure that it is the original. There are two sizes it comes in. One is a 13 inch which retails for around $20 and the other is an 8 inch diameter retailing for around $16. It comes in either a Kelly green or light oak trim. It's easy to buy this online just by doing a Google search on "Audubon Bird Clock". Both bird clocks have twelve North American bird calls striking every hour. It does have a sensor that will keep the birds from chirping when it is dark, so you don't have to be worried about being woken up at night. Included in the package is a nice guide pamphlet of fun facts about the twelve birds. The clock takes three triple A batteries and it is only for indoor use.
The twelve birds that you will enjoy are:
Summer Tanager
Song Sparrow
Purple Martin
American Goldfinch
Wood Thrush
Common Yellowthroat
Eastern Meadowlark
Carolina Wren
Eastern Bluebird
Hermit Thrush
So picture yourself inside the house on a cold, snowy winter day. It's dark and dreary and you can't wait for Spring to come. How cool would it be to be able to enjoy the sounds of nature inside your home? How surprising would it be to receive a gift like this for any bird lover or for that matter a nature lover in general? This Audubon Bird Clock would put a smile on anyone's face every time a new bird call would go off.
The Audubon's mission is to conserve and restore the natural ecosystems, focusing on birds and other wildlife and their natural habitat for the benefits of humanity and the earth's biological diversity. What is great about purchasing this product is not just what it gives to you in pleasure but what you are actually giving back to the Audubon which is a portion of the proceeds to promote the study and care of wildlife. If you have cats, well, let's just say you will get some more entertainment with the Audubon Bird Clock.
