Audi to Complete 100 Years

Luxury car manufacturer Audi AG will turn 100 on July 15. The company looks headed to the No1. luxury car manufacturer position of beating fellow Germans like Mercedes-Benz and BMW cars.

Audi chief Rupert Stadler has stated that he wants its products to outsell his greater rivals by 2015. The company has successfully resisted the global economic downturn and has increased its appeal in Europe and China, its biggest markets. Currently, Audi has remained focused on its goals even as its parent company Volkswagen and majority stake holder Porsche are fighting for control over the companies.

Audi which is the Latin version of German word Horch (listen) was founded in 1909 by engineer August Horch.

Audi is a significant player in automobiles but it was Ferdinand Piech who transformed Audi into a technological marvel Piech helped Audi sell successfully in foreign markets. He eventually went on to become the chief of its parent company Volkswagen.

On Thursday German Chancellor Angela Merkel will be among will inaugurate the finale of the grand celebrations at Audi headquarters in Ingolstadt.

Audi India too will revel during the centennial celebrations. Audi sells seven products in India such as the A4, A6, A8, Q7, Q5, TT and the sportiest cars R8.
