Audie Murphy's Memory Emerges for Veterans Day, Fort Hood Memorial

Obama Disappoints

Gary Davis
There is Audie Murphy and there is Barack Obama. Audie Murphy acted on behalf of the United States, Barack Obama has a fairly slick way of discussing what he thinks the United States needs. Audie Murphy spoke to me as a veteran from the grave today and addressed my needs; President Barack Obama wasn't able to bring credibility to his reverence of the soldiers killed at Ft. Hood from my position and he showed his lack of knowledge about the award The Medal of Honor.

In addition to my own experience my information comes from an article titled "This Commander in Chief Doesn't The Medal of Honor From His..." in "David Horowitz Newsreel" from the David Horowitz Freedom Center and a Biography of Audie Murphy from the "Audie Murphy Memorial Website." Audie Murphy was a World War II war hero who received 33 United States' awards and decorations including the Medal of Honor and five awards from France and Belgium. He received every award for valor America has to offer, some he received more than once.

Audie Murphy began his Army career as a private and was soon promoted to sergeant. He finally earned a battlefield commission to second lieutenant. That is something that doesn't happen today.

Although it happens less often every year, Audie Murphy's memory is resurrected on Veterans Day. A little more about Murphy reveals that after exiting the service he had a brief try with Hollywood and then wrote a best-selling book "To Hell and Back" that got him back on track. He had several books succeed but he also had a problem with what is now known as Post-Traumatic Stress Syndrome. He had to face this addiction by facing it alone in a locked room.

As a result he went and fought for veterans' treatment, treatment that I benefit from today. That is why he means so much.

I am a little disappointed in the president, Why?

First he's had several chances to make it clear that after all is said and done he is an American Christian. At least to my way of thinking he has not done that.

His actions with respect to the Fort Hood incident seems to be carefully scripted and it seems carefully scripted to not step on Muslim toes.

He showed by a couple of his remarks to the crowd he doesn't understand the Medal of Honor by virtue of the way it is bestowed.

The people killed at Fort Hood deserve America's best respectful memorial service.

Audie Murphy comes to mind on Veterans Day and he comes to mind as we mourn the Fort Hood dead.

There is a reason for that.

Forgetting all of the awards and medals, Audie Murphy brought credibility as the person giving solace.

President Obama just can't do that.

Honoring all our Veterans on this Veterans Day 2010

Thank You AUDIE AND ALL THE REST OF OUR VETERANS AND SERVICE PEOPLE FOR ALL THEY DO TO KEEP OUR FREEDOM!

    Here’s a Veterans’ Day question.

According to the recorded history mapped out and networked in the Family Forest®, and summarized in this computer-generated Family Forest® relationship chart, both Sergeant Alvin York and Audie Murphy are….

My statement was cut off so I am finishing it here. He is going against it and if you don't see that you need to read and understand the Constitution. Racism is all over the world and against every people. I experience racism everyday and most of all from blacks, so quit whining and be thankful that your live in this country and experience the freedom that was bought for you through blood from all colors of people.

The only hate I see here is hate towards Christians. Why do people seem to think that Christians are not allowed to have freedom of speech and are always accused of hate when they express themselves. The hate crimes bill Obama wants, shows dicrimination toward anyone not listed in the bill and Christians fall in the "not" category. The problem is not whether or not Obama is a muslim, the problem is that he professed to be a Christian during the election and if he is a muslim he lied. His actions are more favorable toward muslims than Christians and this debunks the statement that he is for all people. God will save anyone but they have to want to be saved by confessing their sins and turning their life over to him. I cannot call Obama president because he will not release his birth certificate to prove he is qualified to be President, what he released is not a birth certificate. He and his administration are not honoring or governing by the Constitution, instead he is going ag

Mr. Murphy and his deeds and reputation will be around long after the writer is gone.

I was saddened that the author felt he had to use USA hero Audie Murphy's history to make a political statement.

It would seem that Mr. Obama was being respectful to our Constitution which tells us we have freedom of religion. America is not just for Christians in case Mr Davis has forgotten.

I wonder if Jesus thinks politics is more important to Christians than he is. I do not seem to be able to see how Christians like to spread hate and discord politically. What would Jesus say to that?

Gee, an insurance industry executive is not impressed by President Obama. You, sir, are a despicable creep.

As for Audie Murphy, I grew up watching him in "To Hell in Back" and many westerns. Don't tarnish his memory in what he did in WW2 fighting for freedom. There was another fight for freedom that proceeded WW2 that many Americans chose not to storm the beaches for. And that fight for freedom was right here on our own shores.

How do you know Barak is not a Christian? Do you have a special spiritual barometer to determing who is a Christian or not? Also if he is or was a muslim, in the light of the Christian gospel, can't God save him? I guess the blood that Jesus shed on the cross is exclusive in the minds of some!

President Obama is the president of all Americans, not just Christian Americans. His words at Fort Hood brought comfort to the wounded and the families of those killed and I was moved by his eloquence.

Muslims did not commit the atrocity at Fort Hood, a sick individual, Major Hassan did. I served alongside Muslim American airmen who were as patriotic as Audi Murphy and I am proud of their service as I am proud of my own.
