Audioengine 5 Speakers Review

One of the features that I look for when experiencing any computer is great audio quality. The reason for this is because great audio quality is needed in order to properly view movies or just listen to music. I love music and I frequently purchase new albums from iTunes and I would like to listen to them on my computer. However, having poor speakers on my computer is something that ruins the experience of listening to music because I am unable to hear the lyrics of the songs. I purchased my iMac computer from Apple a few months ago and I was disappointed with the audio quality of the internal speakers. I decided to look around for a speaker that would fit well with the iMac and I found the Audioengine 5. These speakers were $325 on Amazon and I was pretty happy with the product.

I purchased the white and black version of the Audioengine 5 because they look great with the iMac. These speakers feature two built in amplifiers and they are both contained in the left speaker. The right side does not contain an amplifier and these are bookshelf speakers. This means they are intended to be displayed separated from each other. However, I found that the right side speaker would sometimes sound dramatically lower than the sound from the left side. This created the feeling of having a single speaker instead of surround sound.

However, I found that the sound quality was high quality and detailed because it give me the ability to hear lyrics and even instruments within a song that I was unable to hear using standard speakers. The nice thing about the Audioengine 5 speakers is that you can hear the music and you do not need to strain your ears to listen. The sound quality was amazingly superior to the iMac and it did improve my viewing of movies in addition to simple YouTube videos. I also loved that the speakers only had one wire to plug into the wall and they are well built. I dropped them on the floor three times during setting them up and there was no damage. Another great feature about these Audioengine 5 speakers is the bass accuracy. The speakers allow you to hear the bass without being overwhelmed by the sound. The speakers also feature a USB power input and this is great because I plug my ipod into charge here.
