The 7 inch display, an active matrix widescreen, offers an aspect ratio control. This allows you to select 16:9 for movies that are formatted widescreen or a standard 4:3. You can play your DVDs your way, whenever, wherever you want. When viewing your JPEG digital photos, you can adjust the settings to dictate how your photos will transition. When watching your DVDs, you can select from multiple angles, multilingual subtitles, parental lock and slow motion.
The NiMH (nickel metal hydride) battery is rechargeable and the battery life is up to three hours. This feature allows you to watch even an extended length movie without regard to the possibility of losing power. The battery requires approximately five hours to get a full charge, but it does not have to fully recharge the battery and discharge it in between uses to preserve the battery's life. This is direct contrast to the lithium ion batteries that have been most commonly used in these players. Additionally, there are composite video and stereo analog audio outputs and inputs so that you can attach additional AV gear.
When you open the box, you will have a portable DVD player and a rechargeable NiMH battery pack. There is also an AC power adapter and a DC power adapter that you plug into your cigarette lighter. You also get one audio/video cable. The bonus pack contains two sets of stereo headphones that fold, a credit card sized remote control with a battery and a carrying pouch and you can also use as a headset mount. The warranty information and user's manual are also included in the box when you purchase The Audiovox D1708PK 7" Ultra Slim Line Portable DVD Player with Bonus Pack.
The one drawbacks seem to be the sound quality and the construction of some of the external accessory parts. Otherwise, the player is great for the car, the doctor's office, the kitchen, anywhere that you want to catch a flick, watch a movie or view photos. It is a go anywhere, play anywhere DVD player and the price is very reasonable to boot!
