History of Audubon Park

For those of you who aren't familiar with Audubon Park, it is well worth the drive especially during the Fall Season with the majestic trees and brilliant changing colors of the leaves. Audubon Park was sold to G. Robert Hunt in 1906 and Audubon Park Country club was built by a golfer named Russell Houston. In 1912, the Audubon Park Realty Company purchased the land and named it after John James Audubon, the wildlife painter. All streets except for two are named after birds. In 1941, the city became incorporated.

As mentioned, Audubon Park is known for its very straight, tree lined streets. Additionally, Audubon Park has six small parks. The Audubon Park 38th Annual Arts, Crafts and Antiques Festival would be a great time to see the Fall foliage, the beautiful parks, and enjoy one of Louisville's finest neighborhoods.
