August begins with an abrupt about face when Mercury turns retrograde on August 2nd and begins retracing its steps through Virgo. Over the next three weeks we'll return to unfinished business, reverse recent decisions we've made and discover alternate paths to our goals. The very next day, Mars, the planet of movement, will dive into the emotional sign of Cancer. This will limit our progress and force us inward to discover spiritual direction for our most pressing problems. Archangel Michael is the one to call on during this retrograde phase, known for his ability to address computer, car and communication devices, which are sure to act up during the first two weeks of this month.

Numerologically, August and the sign of Leo resonate to 8, the number that represents personal rebirth, generosity and confidence. As we adjust our visions and go within, a new source of spiritual power and authenticity is sure to emerge. In the Tarot, the Strength card represents authentic power and the ability to tame one's inner imbalances. We all tend to notice a return to self during this month, and meditating with the Strength card will assure a smooth transition during this transformational and empowering time period.

Mercury will back into Leo on Monday, August 8, opening a ten day window for second chances. Whether we lost out on a job interview, made a less than stellar first impression with a potential relationship or invested our money in a get-rich-quick scheme, we'll get the opportunity to correct these things. As the planet of communications moves backward through Leo, it is vital that we be mindful of our words and follow through with our commitments.

August 13th's Aquarius full Moon will generate a number of breakthroughs, reminding us that the Universe is always working behind the scenes on our behalf. This powerful lunation will reveal how what once seemed a disappointment or loss is now beginning to play out as a blessing. If we are still seeking answers for an important problem, we can call on Archangel Uriel during this time, known for his power to provide the perfect solution.

The Leo Sun will hit its peak on Tuesday the 16th and generate a loving and contented energy around us. Though we'll have to be cautious about looking through rose-colored glasses this week, much of what we see and experience will bring authentic joy and harmony into our lives.

Venus will move into detailed Virgo on Sunday, Aug 21. A few hours later the Moon will move into Gemini and we'll be on the hunt for new information. Expect the internet to be overloaded with people looking for alternative options to bring their lives into alignment with their ideals. With Venus influencing our thoughts for the next six weeks, dating, decorating, fashion and remodeling websites can expect plenty of hits. This is a phase when we'll begin to feel the presence of Archangel Chamuel, who represents love in its purest form.

The Sun will make its yearly entrance into Virgo on Tuesday, August 23rd. This transition can bring out our analytical sides, so we must take care not to turn to nitpicking or to try to change the minds or opinions of others. However, we can plant seeds for change by simply acknowledging where adjustments might be needed.

Shared conversation will be a theme on Thursday, August 25th as we reach out to compare notes or gain greater information from those around us. This will result in a valuable review, essential as Mercury returns to forward motion the next day. We can capitalize on this shift by inviting our creative sides to come out and play this weekend while Mercury begins to retrace its steps through self-empowering Leo.
