August Breeze

Example of a Tritina

Patricia Dreher Abel

Lounging in an August breeze,

Cooling ourselves in the orange dusk,

We laugh with loud voices.

This song of intermingled voices

Dances in the muted light of dusk,

And floats on the gentle breeze.

Then the last light slips, and dusk

Dips below our voices,

And the sky darkens behind the breeze.

The breeze lifts away the dusk's sharp voices.
