August is Child Support Awareness Month... So?
Child Support Enforcement, Really? a Not-So-Feministic Approach
First of all, I am a single mom who has three kids and barely receives child support from their father. I have mixed feelings about child support and the rights of all people involved. So instead of writing my opinion, let's break it all down another way. How about the top things that really bug me when it comes to child support, child visitation rights and how men are dogged as if the women have nothing to do with why the separation took place, just to throw that out there.
This will put me in the hot seat and I am prepared. It has been a long time since I won .. er had a good debate. Let's do this...
1. I don't think that a woman should get more child support than what she herself is earning. The last that I read the dad has to pay "50%" of the child's welfare. No, food stamps and cash assistance does NOT count, ladies. Sorry!! In other words.... get up and WORK! You can do it, I DO and have these past few years. So if he is court ordered to pay $1,000 a month, then you need to be "earning" $1,000 a month (not including welfare).
2. If you think that it is okay to keep your kids from their father because he is not paying child support, you don't deserve to have kids!!! Yes, I said it! How can you penalize your child(ren) because you didn't get money? You would be hurting no one but them! I can only pray that certain dads love their kids enough to want to spend time with them. You are using money to break their heart. Monetary issues and the emotions of children should never be considered correlative... ever!!
3. If a man ever thinks that he can evade child support by giving up his rights of his kids... he is the one who will have to face himself (and his kids) someday. Sad for him.... what a "man".
4. A child needs security no matter what. It is the SOLE responsibility of BOTH parents to make their lives the best that they can be. This means no mommy and daddy wars. You are divorced now right? Let's not add salt to the wounds. Daddy Dogging Days are over. There are such things as dead-beat moms too. Let's face it, there is more to life and LIVING then spending hours at the welfare office and walking the streets in daisy dukes to sucker another Sucka.
5. Child support awareness should bring awareness to everyone. The feminine world has somehow dogged men into a corner, not giving them a chance to breath. I know there are some out there who really try to cheat their way out of responsibility. However, there are really a lot of men who try to have a relationship with their kids and can't because of the mother. It infuriates me to no end.
Put the children first and get along as much as possible. Set deadlines and help one another out for the sake of the children. I have been more than lenient with my ex because he would do my kids no good being in jail, because he didn't pay child support.
It's high time that women start utilizing their WOMAN Power bull crap and WORK since they "can". It can't only be a women's world when it is convenient for you..... come on be independent like you claim to be.... Spread Some Child Support Awareness!
I'm DONE for now... (if you know me, you knew this was coming) ;)

Post a CommentDisclaimer: All situations are different. This is not meant to attack all mothers or whatever, but a majority of people would much rather sit around while their ex supports their family as well as a new one. I know what it is like on ALL facets. Believe me, it sucks that my ex is paying CS for his 2 adult sons while my kids get whatever crumbs are left over. However, I REFUSE to sit around and do nothing with myself while everybody's tax dollars support them..... either.
