Your job is to contact former employers and references of applicants to verify their applicant or applicants' backgrounds. These applicants are applying for jobs with Aurico's clients. This job is similar to Sterling Testing Systems I wrote about a few articles ago. However, I think this position is better and I'll explain why. Sterling Testing Systems has a tendency to over hire, which seems to be a problem with many work at home companies. And I say problem, because it is a problem for people who get hired and eventually end up with not enough work to make a decent income.
Also, Sterling Testing Systems pays on an hourly basis. Aurico pays per completed record. I believe it is $5 per completed record, or at least it was a couple of years ago. To me, the way Aurico pays is much more beneficial to the worker because you get out of it what you put into it. In other words, if you do the work and are consistent, motivated, and work to get the reports completed, in return you will make a decent amount of money. If you complete three records, just three, in an hour, you will make $15 an hour. If you complete more than three, your average hourly wage is very good for a work from home job that doesn't require a college degree or specialized skills.
Now the downside. Yes, I know, work at home jobs just like everything else in life has its ups and downs. First, this may only be a work from home job for those living in the Chicago area. I say this, because there is a four to six week training period in Chicago. Now Aurico does hire workers from all over the country, but you have to be able to attend training for this time period in Chicago. Yet, it may be worth it, because the work is interesting and challenging and the pay is pretty good. You are an independent contractor, and therefore, the work could be inconsistent. Although, an employee of the company told me that there are only a couple of times during the year when the work is slow and one of those times is around Christmas.
To work from home with Aurico, you should have high-speed Internet, have basic knowledge of MS Office, and have a professional phone voice. A quiet background is a must. You should also be prepared to get unlimited long distance and a separate phone line, although you shouldn't need it since you will be making the calls, they won't be coming into your line. Aurico doesn't advertise their work from home opportunity on their website, you will need to call the number listed on the website to find out if they are hiring for the work from home verification or researcher position.
