Austin Texas - My 5 Favorite Restaurants

Kay Corbett
Austin Texas is known for it's nightlife, music, and food! These are a few of my favorite places to eat in this fantastic town!

The County Line

Even if you are not a big fan of bar-b-que, the County Line will turn you into a beef-eating, finger licking Bar-b-que addict! Whether you have your food served up family style or by individual plate, you will enjoy this mouthwatering menu. Beef and pork ribs to die for, the most tender brisket you have ever ate, and the chicken falls right of the bone! Not only that the view is fantastic! At the County Line on the Lake you can enjoy the outdoor patio, feed ducks and turtles some left over bread (if you have any leftovers!!) Enjoy the Texas Hill Country view when eating at the County Line On the Hill. Their food is so good not only do rib lovers order out, rib lovers across America order out--they ship to anywhere in the US! That is good bar-b-que!

The Taco Shack

Next on the menu is the best breakfast burrito you will ever devour! The Taco Shack is the best! Even if you are already late for work, you will stand in line and wait on that burrito--the day doesn't start until you've had your fill of the best burritos in town! The ingredients are fresh and well cooked. The menu is easy and you can build your own burrito with all of your favorite toppings. My favorite is the Burnet Road Burrito with eggs, bacon, potatoes, and cheese, smothered with the best salsa around. You can not get enough of the Taco Shack.

Freebirds World Burrito

For lunch or dinner head to Freebirds World Burrito. Strike that, go ahead and get it for lunch you will have plenty left over for dinner! If you have never been to Freebirds don't worry, the staff will walk you through building your massive burrito from the tortilla to the meat , rice, beans, and veggies. Don't forget the avocado and sour cream! How big do you want it? A Freebird can be finished off in one meal, with the Monster or Super Monster you may not have to shop for groceries for a week. What ever you do, pay close attention to the instructions of how to eat it, keep the wrapper on and slowly remove the foil as you go or your burrito will become a taco salad all over your pants! Honestly, this is the first and only restaurant I've been to that actually had a sign that says, "From this point, your wait is 30 minutes" outside the door. Very popular place!

Dave & Busters

Looking for a night out on the town? It's a one-stop shop at Dave & Busters at the corner of Hwy 183 and 360. Great food, fantastic drinks, and fun are waiting for you here! The only adult decision you will have to make is should you eat first or play first? This is Chuckee Cheese on steroids, where an adult can be a kid. The huge arcade is filled with games and while you play you rack up points on your player card and win prizes like televisions, toasters, shot glasses, ash treys, and more. It is a fun place to hang out with your friends after work or on the weekend!

China Cafe by Phoenix

Who doesn't love a Chinese food buffet? Well, me! My favorite and most missed Chinese food restaurant is China Cafe by Phoenix. I can't even begin to describe how fantastic the General Tso's chicken is, but my mouth is watering and I feel a trip to Austin coming up in my near future! I rate a Chinese food place on the palatability of the chicken. Does it have gristle? Is it too big to take a single bite? Is it caked with batter and too hard to bite into? Not here, the chicken is perfect every time, the rice is perfect every time, the soup is perfect every time. No wonder it is my favorite Chinese Food Restuauant! If you have not already gotten in your car and headed to China Cafe by Phoenix, you need to. 3901B Spicewood Springs Road conveniently located next to my favorite breakfast hangout--The Taco Shack!

I hope you enjoy all of my Austin favorites!
