Australia: A Brief Overview

Australia is a one of the most beautiful country in the world. Its places, culture and people make it more beautiful. The official language is English and the currency is Australian dollar. Australia has population of 20,743,300 million till 26 January 2007 and has life expectancy male 78.5 years and female 83.5.

Australia is divided into 6 States and territories. The largest city is Sydney. As compared to all other Countries in the World, the population of Australia is not that much. But the places it holds are one of the most beautiful in the World.

There are many places to visit in Australia such as zoo in Melbourne, Chad stone shopping center Sydney Harbor Bridge, Boxing Day at Melbourne cricket ground on Christmas days for unlimited fun or even the island in Tasmania.

First, let's talk about Melbourne zoo which was established in 1862, and has an area of 55 acres (22 hectares). It is an oldest zoo in Australia and was modeled on London zoo. Where there are lots of different types of animals from around the world. There are animals which are the icons of Australia such as the kangaroo and the koala.

A visit to Australia means seeing these animals and it's easy to access, as it's only four km away from the city center. Another famous place to visit in Australia is there largest shopping center which is located in south-eastern suburbs of Melbourne. The shopping center was opened in 1960 and in 1986 it was expended. In early 1990, the complex adds new development such as multistory car parks. If you are one of them who loves shopping should go there.

Sydney Harbor Bridge is another beautiful place to visit and it is the tallest steel arch bridge with a measuring 134 meters (429.6 ft) from top to water level. It was built in 1932 and till 1967, it was the cities tallest structure according to Guinness book of world record. If you like sports you can also go watch sports or play it. Their national sport is cricket and Australia's Cricket team is the best in the world, since past five years. Melbourne cricket ground in Australia is the world's biggest cricket stadium if you go ask some one in Melbourne where you would like to be on Boxing Day. He would definitely say shopping or watching cricket at Melbourne Cricket Ground. Some others places to visit in Australia are The Immigration Museum, Melbourne, Gold Treasury Museum and The Great Ocean Road, Mornington. If you are fond of islands you can travel to Tasmania the island city of Australia. The Tasman Peninsula, the East Coast of Tasmania, Huon Valley and Bruny Island are some other attraction in Tasmania Australia. In Australia the number of activates and adventures are countless for example hiking, bushwalking, diving, fishing, skiing, trekking, hot ballooning, climbing, sky diving etc. These things and places make Australia one of the most beautiful countries in the worlds and if you haven't visited Australia you should visit it and explore the beauty.
