Australia, the Land Down Under

Kerry Mulherin
The crack of thunder and the smell of the freshly falling rain in a redgum forest along the Murray River is the single most beautiful event to experience in Australia. It's a time to pinch myself to make sure I am on earth, because I know that Eden must surely have been at least similar to this magnificent place.

The kookaburras laugh intermittently between thundershowers, and the bugs scurry across the red ground in search of shelter. In the midst of all of all of this activity, I am progressively transformed into a heavily soaked, very small being in this world of wonder. I am reminded of my mortal insignificance and vulnerability each time lightning streaks through the sky, and I tremble with excitement in expectation of the imminent clap of glorious thunder. Is there anything more wondrous than a stormy day, anywhere?
If you have never visited Australia, it ought to be on your lengthy list of adventures yet to accomplish.

It is the safest and most sought after vacation destination in the world. And rightly so.

Australia is a land that seems like it may very well be past the ends of the earth itself, although a mere few hours away in this age of super fast jets with gourmet meals, movies and interesting new faces from far away lands, in search of their dreams in a wonderful country full of promise and fortune. Nowhere else will they find creatures such as those found in the bushland and outback of Good ol' Aussie. The weird and wonderful, the hopping, the swimming, the unique fauna in the sunburnt lands of down-under.
Pesky flies are an unwelcoming companion, but serve their own purpose and signal the success of the best Barbie you will ever have. Lamb chops are best, although one might be tempted to 'throw a shrimp on the barbie' for the purpose of saying you really did it down-under!

From tropical rain forests, to arid deserts, snow capped mountains, and endless miles of pure silk sandy beaches. There is no place on earth like Australia.
Come say G'day mate!
