Why would they do such a thing? Because it isn't politically correct beef or chicken, that's why!
Six thousand camels are struggling to locate water in the Northern Territory, and are causing extensive damage to property. Australian authorities have decided to herd these camels out into the desert with helicopters and shoot them dead, leaving their carcasses to rot in the desert sun. Considering that an adult camel can weigh up to 1,500 pounds, that is an enormous amount of wasted meat.
Australia, be kind to those who would appreciate the food! Slaughter those animals and give the meat away! I'm sure there are numerous food agencies who would be very thankful for the meat those camels could provide, and would be glad to pitch in on the cost of slaughtering those animals! The problem with the animals would not only be eliminated, you would not have a herd of animals rotting in the desert spreading disease, and you would be doing a wonderful service to your country by providing food to those in need!
Perhaps offer the camels free to those who will slaughter them for food, or offer them to foreign countries to feed their hungry, but please do NOT waste such an obscene amount of edible meat!
No, it may not be Grade-A Beef or pork, but do you think that actually matters to the hungry out there? Food is food, and it is callous and wasteful to simply destroy that much usable food when so many in the world are starving!
I am begging you to please reconsider such a ridiculous wasteful act and put that meat to good use instead of letting it rot in the desert while people starve! Such government waste is one reason this world is in the pitiful state that it is in. Use your power to be a good example, and put all of that meat to good use! If you don't want to feed the poor, then why not allow a dog-food company to slaughter the animals? Whatever you decide to do, just do NOT waste all of that precious meat! Remember - the world is watching you, and how you handle this situation could reverberate in a wonderfully positive manner should you do the right thing.

Post a CommentI agree, this meat should be put to good use to feed the hungry!
It is indeed inhuman to do such acts. Nice reporting thanks Annienygma.
Why, indeed. Because people don't always make good use of their minds... or, as Mark Twain put it more eloquently, "The problem with common sense is that it just isn't really very common!"
How sad and disgusting, on the surface this appears to be another act by man that seems to benefit nothing.
Apart from the cost of this exercise, the waste of a possible food source for other animals (ie pets), are they not aware of the potential health risks of leaving these carcasses out in that sun to rot?
Who will eventually have to clean up this mess and at what extra cost?
What a shame. The problem is that those in charge are not going hungry.
I know it! I almost choked when I discovered this! It seems like a no-brainer to me, wonder what we can do to persuade them to NOT waste all of that meat?
Wow! The mentally ill really are running the show, ain't they? Worldwide, even.
