Australian Man, Ian Usher is Selling His Life to the Highest Bidder on Ebay

Chris Beason
How many times have you wished you could just walk away from it all and start over somewhere else? Several of us have done it in one way or another whether it was voluntarily or involuntarily. Of course not many of us have sold absolutely everything except the clothes on our backs and walked away, but that is exactly what Ian Usher intends to do. The sell of Ian Usher's life seems to be completely voluntary and he seems to be a sane man. So if it's not by force and not because he's insane, then why is he doing it?

According to his website alife4sale.com, his life or life as he knew it, ended late one Wednesday evening with, as he described it, "a shocking and awful discovery." It seems that even after a year, it's hard to overlook the memories that the material things around him keep bringing back. Even with having what seem to be really great friends, he still can't shake the feeling of wanting to start a new life in a new place. While he won't actually be giving up his friends, they are also up for auction, along with his job.

It really isn't possible for someone to buy his life and then fit perfectly into the empty spot he'll be leaving behind, but his friends and his employer are willing to give them a chance. A letter written by his friends to perspective buyers is posted on the website. It seems they've mutually agreed that no matter who moves into Ian's life, they will welcome them. You might not exactly be going out and partying with them, but they will at least be kind enough to point you in the right direction to "the best pub to go to on a Saturday night."

Ian doesn't seem to lead a spectacular, fast-paced life. He was training to be a mine dump truck driver, but decided to go back to his old job at Jenny Jones Rugs. The winning bidder of Ian's life will get a two-week trial in his shoes, literally if his shoes fit, as a rug store assistant. If they pass the two-week trial and want to continue their employment there, they will be given another trial period of three months before being given a full-time position.

The new owners of Ian's life will be able to pick up Ian's hobbies as their own and Ian has several hobbies. Everything the new owner will need for motorcycling, jet-skiing, skydiving, snowboarding, kite surfing, and kart racing will be included in the package. After enjoying their new hobbies they can relax in the spa and watch their projector TV in Ian's beautiful three bedroom, two bathroom home with includes everything except for the clothes Ian will be wearing when he signs the deal. Everything includes his 1989 Mazda 929 and his Polaris 15 speed bicycle that he bought second-hand years ago.

Is Ian having a mid-life crisis? Maybe. Is he crazy? Maybe a little, but I think we're all just a little bit jealous that he's doing exactly what we've wished we could do at one time or another. Will anyone be interested in purchasing his life? We'll see on June 22 at noon Australian Western Standard Time when the bidding starts.
